READ THE AUTHOR'S NOTE AT THE END!

I knew I had to go home.

Oba was not so comfortable with the idea, and neither was Rodney.

But I called Casper and he came to pick me early when he knew Mum and Father weren't home.

He made us stop by a restaurant, and buy some food, both for breakfast and for lunch – cos he knew I wouldn't be coming out –
Then he bought snacks too, just so I don't see them till I left in the morning of the next day.

It worked. I ate, played music and kept my doors locked all day.

I didn't open it when Mum came.

I didn't open it when Wendy came.

I didn't open it when the servants came.

I didn't open it for any body.

Casper and I occasionally spoke on the phone. Sending voice notes to each other on WhatsApp, or reels on Instagram.

Though he was being nice despite all I'd put him through, I couldn't help but think it would create future problems and arguments.

I felt like he would explode.

The only time I opened the door was when Audrey came over.

It surprised me. Non of my older siblings liked home.

Jasper and Jessi were in Canada. Although they were big and popular now, I couldn't help but feel they never liked me much ; too.
They were close to Wendy, they remembered her birthdays, sent her presents and held long conversations with her, but with me?

They didn't care, it hurt that they didn't, but I wished they did.

They were only 18, but they took care of themselves without Father's help.
They had a rough relationship with him, too.

But Audrey loved me.

She was my mother. She knew my secrets, I had a home in her house and she called me almost always.

Her husband knew and liked me, her daughter loved me like an older sister.
She got me the iPhone 11 that I was using and gave me free clothes from my brands.

She was my everything.

But she was busy and I didn't want to bother her, so I didn't call.

"Amy," Audrey called. "Amy open the door, please."

"Sister Odie?" I called, turning of the music and approaching the door.

"It's me, Amy. Open the door." Audrey begged.

I got up and opened it, and she engulfed me in a hug.

"Mummy called me, she said you wouldn't open up the door. I was worried so I came over." She explained.

I always looked up to Audrey.

She was so good on social media, had her own fashion brand – Audrey made that –
Bad name which she promised she would change.
She was married, to a super model, Nathan Okorie, who was beauty, brains and wealth.

I and his brother and sisters have always been such good friends.

"As if she cares." I mumbled in Audrey's hug.

"Casper told me, also." Audrey pulled away from the hug and looked at my face.
"I told to always come to my house on holidays like this."

"I don't want to be a burden, sister," I told her as we walked to my bed.
"I feel like I'll be intruding.
Plus, you'll soon have to adopt me because I'm pretty sure that man will disown me very soon,"
