Leah POV

Of course Alex was the first to arrive. she was never late. before Emily, she was the one hurrying me along

She arrived in style, dancing across to the room and greeting me with a big hug, and then Emily.

Behind her was a few other friends, including both of our managers, so I of course greeted them aswell.

I was about to formally introduce Alex and Emily, as they had not formerly met, but when I turned around to do so, they were already knee deep in a conversation.

The arrival of the guests was now in full swing and Emily had got lost in the crowd. I felt bad for leaving her, but last time I saw her she was with Alex who I knew would be taking care of her

as I was welcoming everyone, I was subconsciously scanning through the crowd for her.

an hour later, most people had now arrived, and I could take a minute to breath. Emily had clearly been watching me from wherever she was, as as soon as I got this pause she came over to me

"there you are" I said putting my arm around her as she handed me a fresh glass of champagne

"Alex kept me busy, dont worry" Em joked

"knew she would" I responded

As if on queue, Alex came prancing over

"I see you two have met" I said

"yep, I can see why your head over heels" Alex said, purposely trying to embarrass me

to be fair, I dont know who she was trying to embarrass more, the cringe Emily was feeling was visible across her face

"that's so embarrassing" Emily said going red

she playfully pushed me away from her and crossed her arms, trying to hold her smile in

"right, lets do a circuit, need to do some introductions" I said

"okay, after another drink" Emily responded, taking a big swig of everything left in her glass whilst pulling a face at Alex. I was happy the two got along so well

as we started walking, the same waitress from before came and offered us a top up, which both of us kindly accepted. the woman gave me a flirtatious smirk as she did so. I looked to Emily to see if she noticed, which of course she did as she rolled her eyes at me

I laughed it off and gave her a kiss of reassurance

"ew get a room" Georgia joked as she approached us alongside Keira

"georgia i didn't even notice you come in" I said giving her a hug

"probably too busy with your tongue down your girlfriends throat"

"em, this is Georgia, you'll get used to it"

Emily laughed at Georgia's witty remark, her initial shyness had now faded away as Leah made an effort to introduce her to everyone 

As we continued our circuit, I introduced Emily to more friends. Emily seemed comfortable with everyone. I didn't expect anything less to be honest. she was that kind of person, someone that everyone got along with

The countdown to midnight had finally arrived. Emily and I stood together, our fingers intertwined, ready to welcome the new year with renewed hope and love.

Ten... nine... eight...

As the countdown began, my heart raced with excitement. I turned to Emily, and she gave me a reassuring smile, the earlier nerves and anxiety were a thing of the past
