It all started at the wedding of somebody Emily knew, she knows everybody.
How can one person know so many people?
I only knew Emily and my co-workers, and only one of those I like being with.
But when I saw her catch that wedding bouquet, it felt as if I was trapped. Like a bat had smashed into my heart, like nothing but unfilledness came crashing through.
The polite smile I was forced to give as Emily showed off her catching skills, the way people joked about us being next.
Nearly made it to two years....
Like every event Emily took me to, she drove in HER car.
"I don't want marriage." The words spoke as if I had a say.
Emily kept her face on the dark road, she didn't say anything, but I could see her face each time the streetlight hit.
My words had hurt her.
