Doffy didn't realize when things started to change.

The change for him was slow at first. He would start giving you more aftercare after he was done with you, showing a little more affection than he normally would. Then it started to become more noticeable, he would call you into his room for something other than just sex. He didn't know why he did it, he just did.

Eventually you were getting called into his room almost everyday. Whether it actually was to sleep with him - although it happened much less frequently - or him asking you to check his work looking for improvements or figuring out what changes needed to be made to make you more comfortable.

Then he started to find excuses to need you which resulted in you being by his side almost 24/7, even during meals. He would take you everywhere with him, even when he left Dressrosa. It wasn't until Diamante made some comment about you always being there that he realized, and it scared him.

It scared him that whenever he saw you smile his chest would tighten, how your laugh was like music to his ears, and how whenever he was around you he had the sense that everything was perfect. But what scared him most of all was this feeling he had whenever he thought of you. It was something different to all the pleasure he'd experienced before, and he didn't understand what it meant.

He didn't understand why he was suddenly having this feeling only directed at you. So he did the only sensible thing, he shut everything out and worked.

You realized immediately when the changes started happening.

It started with his behaviour, how he stopped being so narcissistic and rough in bed, how he would ask you how you were feeling after a particularly draining session and let you take the rest of the day off, and how he stopped getting angry when you politely declined having sex when you needed a break.

Then he started to stay and care for you instead of just just leaving you there. He would clean you up, give you a cold compress for the bruises, while gently massaging any parts that were sore. He would press light kisses to any new sores you had gained during the session, and let you stay in his room for as long as you needed until you had recovered your energy.

The first time you got called into his room for something other than sex it surprised you, but the change of pace was nice. What surprised you even more was his reason for summoning you. He was asking about you, how comfortable you were, how was the food, was your boss being nice to you, did you like working as a servant, did you like your room, did you enjoy being here? The questions were endless, but you answered them all until he was satisfied.

Soon enough you were in his room everyday for hours at a time. Some days he wouldn't ask anything of you, he just needed company - although he never said it aloud of course. Some days he would bombard you with questions, some about Dressrosa but over time they became more personal. One day, out of curiosity, you started asking him questions. He paused at first but slowly started answering them. There were a few questions that he didn't respond to, but you were learning more about him everyday.

At this point you were looking forward to seeing him everyday and when your meetings with him drew to a close you left feeling a little sadder. He asked about it once but you brushed it off saying it was nothing, although not entirely satisfied with your answer he didn't push it.

One day you got summoned to his room where you and him talked all afternoon and into the evening. When it was dinnertime he made sure there was room for you next to him as opposed to you sitting with the rest of the servants. Everyday after that, you were told to sit next to him and if you tried to sit with the other servants, you would be taken by force to him.
