Brynne was stretched out on Aru's bed, her head slightly dangling off the side.

"So, you and Acharya, huh?"

"What? No!"

"You have a date with him again today."

"It's a tutor session," Aru said, rolling her eyes.

"Yeah? How much studying did you get done yesterday, huh?"

Aru snapped her head toward Brynne. "I-ugh!"

"Point stands. I think the new kid just wants to see you again."

"Yeah, so that I don't fail."

"Same thing."

"How was the party last night?" Aru asked, changing the subject.

Brynne smirked and put her head on Aru's pillows. "It was fine. But what kind of party has no ice? You would swear the kid doesn't know what ice is."

"I thought you said you had to get ice. Isn't that why you forgot to pick me up?"

Brynne closed her eyes. "Oh. Yeah. Well, that's because there wasn't any."

"So, you got to the party without me first and realized there was no ice. Then you went to get ice, still forgot to get me. Then lied?"

"Maybe I just didn't get the ice at all," Brynne mumbled.

"What was that?"

"Don't you have tutoring in an hour?"

"Yeah, it's at two."

"What time is it now?"

"1:35-ONE THIRTY-FIVE?! Brynne! How could you let me get so sidetracked?! I can't walk to the library in 25 minutes!"

"I can drive," she said, walking out of the room. "Get dressed. I'll be outside." There were footsteps leading away, then a pause. "No hoodies!"

"Fine!"

"Thanks, Bee! I'll talk to you later. Bye!"

Aru ran out of the car. Then there was a honk of a horn behind her.

Brynne leaned over the console and looked out the passenger window. "Forget something, Shah?!" she yelled.

"No?"

"Bag!"

Aru huffed and ran back to the car, grabbing her backpack, then running again. "Thank you! Bye!"

She rushed into the library and let her eyes scan the building. Her phone buzzed in her pocket.

Aiden

Hey. I'm running a little late.
Sit wherever. I'll be there soon.

Awesome.

Aru found a table in the back of the library and sat down. She slung her bag down next to her and waited for Aiden's arrival. She chewed on her thumbnail nervously before deciding to get one of her notebooks out.

Aiden

Aru kept her head up, waiting for Aiden to appear in her line of sight. Then he did.
