Ellie's POV:

My ears were filled with beeping sounds of machines as my eyes slowly began to open as my body began to awaken.

Where was I?

My eyes started to adjust to the bright light that shined almost directly at my face.

As I looked around the room, it was filled with horrible bland furniture, and the walls were covered in blue. And the light brown wood floors complimented the hospital look.

Oh yeah. I forgot.

I got shot in the shoulder and then passed out in the fire, and so did mom.

My eyes widened as my brain thought about her.

Oh God. She wasn't here anymore.

I immediately closed my eyes back up as I tried to swallow the hurt stuck in my throat.

My body was too weak, and my pupils were too swollen to sit here and cry. I could do that later. When I have recovered.

The chairs on the other sides of my bed sat facing me as no one consumed the space.

My arms were poked and plugged in with I.V.'s as a mask covered my nose and mouth. The air that I was breathing in tasted weird and funny.

I slowly brought my hands up as I grasped the silicone mask as I stuck it to my side.

I took a deep breath and breathed out. God. What a joy it is to breathe FRESH air. And not this tank shit they give you when your lungs are filled.

But how the hell did I get out of the fire?

If I passed out? Maybe I was saved by a fireman or something? I didn't fucking know all I know was that I was happy to be alive.

I suddenly heard a click on the door as I jumped slightly.

My eyes darting towards the wood door as it slowly opened.

I prepared myself for who was about to come in. But as soon as my eyes got a glimpse of him. His black locks. His dimples. His face. His everything. Everything in my mind went blank.

My eyes widened as my lip parted.

I felt a single tear begin to build up in my eye as he suddenly looked up and got a glimpse of me.

Everything in his body stopped as he stared at me in awe.

Nikolai Russo. The man that I have fallen in love with. The man that I had promised my mother that I would try to stay with for the rest of my life.

I breathed out sharply as I couldn't help but smile.

"Hi." I said as my words began to choke up.

He didn't say anything as he walked over to the right side of the bed.

Everything out of me wanted to run and jump in his arms. But due to my condition, I think it would be better not to.

Not a word came from him as he suddenly reached his arms out, grasping me and pulling me to his chest.

I wrapped my arms around his neck as I pulled him closer to my body.

I began to cry on his shoulder, as I couldn't help but unleash everything. He suddenly let go of the hug as his eyes searched mine.

Mine softened as his hands held onto other sides of my cheeks, causing me to stare into him.

Not a whimper. Or a sound came from him as he slowly brought his lips towards mine.
