Tails!

Shadow's POV

I leaned on Sonic's shoulder for a few minutes as he hummed a soothing tune, his hum was calming yet it made me feel uncomfortable because he was getting stressed - his foot was tapping on the floor as he scrolled through his phone until I asked him:

"Who are you texting?"

"Tails, he isn't answering and he was supposed to be home an hour ago..."

"Oh yeah, that fox hasn't been around for days, where is he?" I asked him, trying to sound chill so he wouldn't stress himself more.

"He is at a science camp thingie and he hasn't text me, I'm getting worried, Shads...

"Hey it's okay, we will go look for hi-" suddenly a loud clash interrupted me.

"SONIC!" A familiar voice yelled, muffled by sobs and a two tailed fox ran into Sonic's arms

Sonic's POV

I looked down at Tails as he snuggled into me, his eyes were stained with tears and his arms were covered in bruises. He whimpered as I held him closer - never wanting to let him out of my grasp.

"What happened?" I heard a worried voice next to me ask as I looked at Shadow who was staring at Tails with concern

Tails looked surprised to see Shadow but shook away the thought and started crying harder

"Tails... Buddy, tell me... What happended?" I asked him, wiping away his tears

Tails took a deep breath and sat in between me and Shadow, surprisingly, Shadow put his arm around Tails and cuddled him. A silent gasp escaped my mouth as I watched Shadow smile at him and bring him into a hug.

"Whoever hurt you, they will die, okay?" Shadow spoke to Tails with a soothing smile

Tails wiped his eyes and nodded, beginning to speak

"This guy called Scour itge, he-he broke my science project that I was working on for three whole days without barely any rest, and because I got angry, I yelled at him. He didn't take that well... So he... Hit me, everywhere, he would punch me, kick me, swear at me... And he made it the worst week of my life...Ever..."

Tails' eyes began to flood with tears again after he explained his tragic time at the science camp and Shadow picked Tails up gently, caressing his ear with his hand

"It's alright, you will be just fine with me here, lil guy." Shadow whispered in his ear as Tails rested his head on Shadow's shoulder, yawning heavily.

Shadow's POV

I tucked Tails into his bed, covered with all sorts of tools but I brushed those off and placed them on his desk. I placed the blanket over Tails and ruffled the tufts of fur on top of his head.

"Goodnight, Shadow..." Tails yawned

"Goodnight to you too, lil guy." I smiled before walking out of his bedroom

Sonic was waiting for me outside of the door with a huge smile spread across his face

"I didn't know that you had this sort of side to you Shads!" He exclaimed

"Yeah, well, it seems I have a certain soft spot for that fox after all." I told him as a took a look into Tails' room, seeing him sleeping soundly

"Yeah, I guess so!" Sonic laughed

I smiled at Sonic seeing him laugh, he was right, after all; he's only eight.
