Expect the Unexpected (Jemily)

Chapter 16

Emily's POV

We're just getting ready for bed now, after dinner Danielle didn't leave her room at all so we haven't went to bother her, figured she just needed some time to get used to her surroundings

JJ is already in bed so I told her I would just go talk to Danielle, let her know we are going to bed but to wake us if she needs us type of thing

Once again I knocked on the door and waited for Danielle's okay before opening the door

"Hey... JJ and I are heading to bed... it's right down the hall. If you need us at all tonight don't hesitate to wake us, I'm typically a light sleepier anyhow. Please again help yourself to anything" I say, I wanted her to be comfortable here,

"Okay" is all she says, not even looking at Me

"Okay... goodnight" I smile before shutting her door again and going back to our room

"Did she talk to you?" JJ ask and I shake my head and just get in bed with her

"We just need to give her time. Lea said the system has screwed her so... while she's here we just need to do everything we can to make her feel safe" I say and JJ nods

"We can do what we can sure but if she doesn't want our help it's not like we can do anything" she says and I sigh

"I know," I tell her and she just nods

"I'm going to bed, I love you" JJ says and puts her
book away before kissing me softly and cutting off her lamp

"Yea me too... I love you" I say and do the same as she did before getting comfortable

Our alarm went off at 8 this morning.  We had to be in the office by 9;30.

"I'm going to go check on Danielle and let her know we're leaving soon, can you start breakfast?" I ask JJ and she nods, she was currently finishing getting dressed

I had beat her to it, I'm typically the first one dressed and ready in the mornings anyway

"Danielle.... Are you awake?" I ask and knock on the door

"Yea" I heard her say so I opened the door, she was already dressed and staring out the window again

"JJ is getting breakfast ready and we are going to head into the office after" I say and she sighs

"Can I just stay here? I don't want to have to sit and do nothing all day" she ask and I sigh

"I'm sorry but no, today you're going to have to come with us" I say and she groans

"Fine whatever" she says and I just nod and walk to JJ,

"She awake?" She ask me and I nod

"Yep... and already mad" I sigh and JJ just nods and hums

"Don't start" I tell her, I really didn't want to hear about how much she is still mad and how we shouldn't have done this because I still believe it was the right choice

"I didn't say a word Emily" she tells me and continues breakfast

A few minutes later, of us just sitting in silence Danielle walks out with the same outfit she had on when she arrived

"Good morning. How did you sleep?" JJ ask as she sat the table for breakfast

"Fine" Danielle replies, refusing to look at us

"Lea is bringing your phone by later on" I tell her and she nods

Breakfast was an awkward silence, Danielle didn't want to talk to us, JJ was still mad so she wasn't talking either. I just hope as the day continues this all changes

After breaking I washed the dishes since JJ had cooked and the three of us headed to our office

"Did Lea tell you what we do for a living?" I ask Danielle

"No, what are you some type of mafia people?" She ask and JJ chuckles

"No.... But we work in the FBI, specifically the BAU, we work with a few other people to come up with profiles for unsubs all over the country" I explain

"So you're just fancy cops" She responds and I smile

"Yea pretty much, and much cooler" I say and she doesn't respond back

Danielle seemed a little hesitant when it came to the elevator but she didn't want us to notice

"Everyone should be in here now but I'm just going to take you to my office and you can sit in there" JJ says and Danielle just nods

When the elevator doors opened we lead Danielle into the bullpen where Derek and Penelope were joking about something

I remembered Lea saying something about how Danielle responded with men so I looked back at her and her face had gone white before she started to back away

"Hey... Danielle it's okay look at me" I say softly and she just shakes her head and goes to run but I quickly grab her before she could take off

"I'm sorry I'm so sorry please let me go. Don't give me to him I'm sorry. I won't do it again, I won't be mean. I promise I'll be better please don't give me to him. Don't let him come here" she cries, everyone was now looking at us, JJ quickly put her things down and came over to us

"Danielle Breathe" she says and Danielle shakes her head once before completely passing out and going limp in my arms

"What the hell happened?" JJ ask in a panic

"I think it's Derek" I whisper and she sighs

"I completely forgot.. come on let's get her to my office" she says and I nod, I picked Danielle up and prayed that she wouldn't wake up while still in my arms knowing she would freak out more

I laid her on the couch in JJs office and gave her some space, JJ came in with juice and a snack

"She's okay, just let her be a second" JJ says and I nod

"Something happened, she wouldn't pass out in fear just because" I say and JJ nods

"I agree with you Emily. But right now, she doesn't trust us. She's not going to talk to us yet" she says softly and I nod, just as Danielle started to wake up

"What happened?" She ask and sat up

"You passed out" I say and crouch down in front of her

"You got so scared because you seen a man and you passed out" I say and she just holds her hands in her lap

"What happened? Why are you scared?" I ask

"Nothing happened. Leave me alone" she says and I just sigh and stand up and walk over to JJ

"I'm going to go, I love you" I tell her and she smiles and kisses me

"I love you too"

JJs POV

When Emily walked out I noticed that Danielle was looking over at us

"Everything okay?" I ask her and she looks away quickly 

"Is she always like that?" She ask me and I look at her confused

"Like what?" I ask and she looks at me briefly

"She's just... she cares a lot. She wants to help." I explain

"Lea said you've known each other for a long time. What was your last placement?" She ask and I sigh

I really didn't want to talk about lily, I miss her so much it hurts to talk about her

"We had a 4 year old girl, her name was Lily, we had her almost a year when we decided we wanted to adopt. But, what we didn't know was that her birth mom was getting her back. That was a few months ago. And we haven't had a placement since" I tell her truthfully, she looked at me again, this time, for the first time, she looked me in the eyes

She didn't say anything, she just looked away again
