Some notes: Y/N was bullied outside of the word lesbo being spray painted on her locker. I would have used another word but the main derogatory word for women loving women is a word I choose not to use:)
Also: y/n pursues filmmaking because A: I love film B: she loves film because of her childhood of making movies with Jenna, and C: that's how she gets back in touch with Jenna. (Sorry for the mild spoilers.)
