WORD COUNT: [1805]

————

"Oh, Lorraine, look at your dress!" her mother fussed, rushing to Lorraine without a single worry about her own daughter's safety. "Oh, and your skin is all tainted! I thought you knew better than to interfere with our business! And to help Potter of all people! I couldn't be more disappointed!"

"I'm a death eater, too, mother," Lorraine sneered, taking a step away from her mother. "And weren't you the one giving me the task of befriending Harry? I did that to ensure that he and his friends would trust me!"

"She's right, my dear," her father said to her mother. "Our daughter knows better than to interfere, she just wanted to do what she has been asked to."

Her mother sighed deeply and nodded hesitantly, "You're right." There was no apology, no regret, no shameful gaze. Her mother only turned and walked away.

"I'll be taking you to Diagon Alley," Lucius butted in, taking a step towards Lorraine, who had to use all of her willpower to prevent herself from scoffing.

"Lovely," she replied, forcing a smile.

***

Diagon Alley was much more crammed and busy than Lorraine had ever imagined it to be. It was full of magical shops that held brooms, pets, wands, and more. She enjoyed the excitement that it brought but the crowds were certainly ruining her experience. She'd rather it be empty—peaceful.

Lucius was walking far ahead of her, completely ignorant and looking at fellow wizards with judgement. She supposed his petulant attitude ran in the family. Like father, like son.

She knew she was harsh on Draco. So harsh to the point that she sometimes questioned if she was worse than him. She didn't want to be but, at the same time, she didn't care what others thought of her. All she wanted was to exist peacefully, although the reason why she was even in England made itself known to her.

She would never live peacefully.

I was excited about this before, she thought miserably, although she almost immediately perked up when the thought of a cat graced her mind. She stopped walking and watched the back of Lucius as he continued to walk without a single care in the world. So, with a shrug, she walked over to the store that held numerous cats. Through the shop window, she could see cats of all different breeds, colours, ages, and sizes in photos hung on the shop walls. She excitedly entered and approached the register with a wide smile.

"I'd like to get a cat!" she announced to the shopkeeper, who smiled at the girl's clear joy. She reached into her pocket and pulled out her wand, pointing to the door behind Lorraine and whispering a few words. The door clicked and swung open, revealing a beautiful landscape reminiscent of a jungle where cats of all kinds were wandering around and playing with each other happily.
