I shout at Se'lin, telling her to come to us and reluctantly, she does so, though she absolutely does not have a clue why.

"What?" Se'in asks me as she reaches us. "Are we, Neteyam's women, having a party or-" She adds, seeing that the three of us are here.

"Se'lin," I call her once again and she looks at me. "You're hurt, right?" I question, indicating to her nonexistent injury.

"What?" She questions back, confused.

"You're hurt. Right?" I repeat with a look that speaks 'go along with it'. "You said you had a strong migraine earlier during training," I extend the lie.

"I mean, uh- yes? I think?" She clears her throat, riding with it.

"Oh, really?" Eyrina asks Se'lin, a little worried. "Do you have an idea of what it may be?"

"Brain damage," I say with a fake smile, and Se'lin almost curses me for it. "Now go check her."

"S-Sure. What about Neteyam?" Eyrina asks me before turning to the boy. "Will you be fine?"

"He's fine. Now check on Se'lin or she may get dumber every fleeting second," I speak for Neteyam, pushing Se'lin and Eyrina away.

When the two left, totally not forced, I look at Neteyam to actually see if he was going to be okay.

He was only cheekily smiling at me. "You'd rather let me die than have her get anywhere near me, huh?"

"Well, you're not dying," I reply as I roll my eyes.

"Riiight. And you're sure you can handle me?" He asks, though it seems to have come off the wrong way.

"I can handle you just fine. And I actually did. It even got you moaning and shit" I tease while we started to walk to an empty area in the infirmary.

"You're right. You looked so pretty taking all of me," He replies and I stop at this to look at him again. "You took me real good, didn't you?" He teases as well, not backing off.

god, he's getting bolder and bolder day by fucking day.

That's it.

I grabbed his ear, twisting it, as I dragged him to where we were supposed to go. He winced in pain at this, almost begging me to let go.

___

"This, right?" I show him the medication he told me to get and he nods at this.

I grab a cloth and poured a considerable amount before applying it to his bruises.

"So," I hesitantly speak. "They haven't disconnected me yet despite what happened that day. But, surely they will some day. I don't know why. I don't when. I don't know how. But they will."

He remains quiet, only hissing from the ointment from time to time.

"And during that time, I want you to just wait, alright? I don't want you to come to me and save me or anything. I'll handle things on my own." I utter but hearing that he was only silent, I call him again. "Neteyam." I firmly said, signaling him to respond.

"I told you. I'm not doing that," Neteyam finally responds, his tone and accent patent.

We've talked about this before and even so, we can't seem to garner a solution on how I'll be getting back. The fact that any day I could be unlinked to my Avatar gravely haunts us and the fact that we also have very low chance of winning if they try infiltrating makes it even scarier.

"What I want is for you to trust me—" I speak but he interrupts.

"Y/N, how do you expect me to sit still and wait while they have already possibly killed you? I trust you but what your asking is impossible. With the thought of them doing who knows what, I can't just idly stand by."

"I can make it work,"

"Then tell me. How?"

I stay silent, not knowing how to answer.

He sighs. "I'm not losing you and I'll do everything in my power to stop that from happening."

Fuck this is hard.

I finish wrapping a few bandages around his injuries and frankly, we only shared minimal conversations through the whole thing.

This is frustrating.

The uncertainty's slowly and painstakingly eating our relationship up.

If only damages like these can be treated by mere medicine.

But no,

This kind of damage is only treated by further damage—one charmed with bravery, wit, and love.
