I was shaken awake by Oscar. I rubbed my eyes and stood up. I saw Atlas. "Wow." I said. "Man to 5-1. Welcome home. Please continue your approach to Atlas docking bay omega 12. A security team will meet you there. Over." a soft female voice came through the intercom. "I don't understand. What's happening here?" Ruby asked. "I don't know." Qrow said. "But we are here. We got the lamp to Atlas so, I guess we land and get some answers." Jaune said. "I'm not so sure. I've never seen our forces deployed so aggressively before. If we land in a stolen ship there's no way the security team will let us anywhere near Ironwood. They might even take me back to my father." Weiss said. "So..." Blake said. "Winter! Put some distance between us and the fleet." Weiss said. "You got it." Zeke said. We zoomed off and went through the city on the ground. There were large screens with who I'm assuming is Ironwood talking. "General Ironwood. He looks..." Yang said. "Tired." Ruby said to finish Yang's sentence. "James, what have you been doing?" Qrow asked. "This isn't right. None of this is right." Weiss said. "Man to 5-1. We've noticed a detour in your route. You were to make your way to docking bay omega 12 immediately. Do you copy? Over." the voice came through the intercom again. "We're kind of running out of time here." Zeke said. "We need to ditch the ship." Yang said. "Agreed. Get lost in Mantel and buy ourselves some time." Qrow said. "I'm telling you, my sister can take us to Ironwood." Weiss said. "Uh, Weiss?" Blake said. Weiss walked over to where Blake was standing. An image of a woman took place of where Ironwood was on the screens and she started to talk. "Winter?" Weiss asked. "No offence Weiss, but I'm not sure that's a good idea anymore." Qrow said. "There's obviously something very wrong! If we could just talk to her then we-" Qrow cut Weiss off. "Look, I'm not even sure we should be talking Ironwood until we know exactly what's going on with Mantel." Qrow said. "But-" Weiss started to say. "Everyone calm down. I know someone who can help with both." Maria said. "Man to 5-1! You are to make-" Zeke cut the radio before they could finish. "Take a freaking hint!" Zeke said. We landed and came out of an ally. I was on guard and I was confused. We walked through Mantel. "Come on now, hurry. It shouldn't be much of a walk." Maria said. "Is this many soldiers normal?" Zeke asked. "No. At least, I don't think so." Weiss said. Yang kicked what looked like a little drone out into the street. "Maybe we should pick up the pace." Yang said. "You have to remember, the kingdom had just lost the great war. People of Mantel needed a sign of a brighter future and that sign was Atlas. After all, a home in the clouds is about as bright as it gets." Maria said. "Unless you're the one having to look up at it." Nora said. "This whole city, it just is awful." Blake said. "Yeah? You don't like it here? There's plenty of space out in the tundra." a man who was obviously drunk said. "Sorry, didn't mean to-" Blake got cut off. "Atlas is the greatest kingdom in the world, alright?" the man yelled. "Hey-" Ruby started to say. "We can't cause a seen." Blake said. I just started to tune the drunk people out. Weiss threw the man who was yelling into a dumpster. We had already rounded the corner and went far away from that drama. A door opened. "Ah, it's good to see you again old friend." Maria said as we went inside. "Ah, yes yes. Have we met?" the man behind the counter asked. "Well this is off to a fantastic start." Ren said. "Cybernetic optical implants. You adjust them every 10 years or so." Maria said. "Maria! Yes, with the cybernetic optical implants. I adjust them every 10 years or so. Wow. Has it been that long already?" the man said. "I know! I age like fyed why. Would have been here sooner if I hadn't run into these jokers. At the time I thought they might need my guidance while fighting a little old sphynx." Maria said. "Oh, did they?" the man asked. "No, no. They had much more complicated issues." Maria said. Qrow cleared his throat. "And this is?" Qrow asked. "So impatient. I didn't think I'd need to introduce one of Atlas's finest minds." Maria said. "Working in a place like this?" Yang said. A ceiling tile fell and I flinched as it hit the ground. "He likes to keep a low profile. Something I've come to realize none of you know anything about." Maria said. "You can call me Pietro." the man said. "Finest heart too. This pharmacy is just where he volunteers when he's not building the future of Atlas, alongside Ironwood up in the clouds." Maria said. "Oh it's stuffy up there. Down here I get to help the locals and have a little fun. I'm currently working on shoes that make you dance or travel." Pietro said. "YES!" Nora said. "Before we get to that, we were wondering if you could help us. We came to Atlas hoping to talk with General Ironwood, but um..." Yang started to say. "What exactly has been happening here?" Blake asked. "The fall of Beacon took a tole on all of us. James was no different. I couldn't tell you exactly what it was he saw there, but it changed him. He's..." Pietro said. "He's scared." Qrow said. "Paranoid would be the more appropriate term. You have to understand, it wasn't just Grimm. Someone completely dismantled Atlas security code. Made it their play thing. Made us look like traitors to some but fools to everyone else. Whoever managed to do that is either a genius or one of our own. I fear the answer may be both and so does the general." Pietro said. "Maybe Atlas isn't as safe as we thought." Ren said. "After we came all this way, we can't just leave can we?" I said. "How does the counsel feel about all of this? Or Winter Schnee? Do you know anything about her?" Weiss asked. "Well, the counsel's so scared they'll agree to whatever he wants. Well, some representatives from Manel are. Wait, you're... you're Weiss Schnee." Pietro said. "Wait, what was that you were trying to say about Mantel?" Yang asked. "You painted it." Pietro said. "What?" Yang asked. "Is everything okay?" Ruby asked. "You're team RWBY." Pietro said. "You know us?" Ruby asked. "Oh, my girl, I do. I most certainly do. And I feel like such a dunce for not recognizing you sooner. My daughter's told me so much about you." Pietro said. "Your daughter?" Ruby asked. A siren started to go off outside and everyone was running. "Trouble." Zeke said. We all ran outside. "Wait!" Pietro called after us. Everyone grabbed their weapons and I drew my knifes. I pushed a button on the sides of my knifes and they connected to make Divine Light. "I guess the city defenses aren't doing much." Oscar said. "Somehow that doesn't surprise me." Nora said. A guard was thrown against a wall from a different street. More guards came, shooting at something. One of them were taken out by a Grimm. "Well we didn't come this far to fail now!" Ruby said. She got her scythe. We all got into more of a battle stance. Ren ran off and Nora launched off Jaune's shield. I looked at Zeke and he nodded. I put one end of Divine Light out in front of me, flat, and Zeke jumped on. I launched him up and he drew his sword and unleashed a fury onto the Grimm. There was a Grimm behind me so made a quick turn around and slashed it. There were two more that came at me but I spun Divine Light above my head and it took them out. "Zeke! Dagger me!" I yelled. Zeke took dagger and threw it to me. I caught it and tossed Divine Light in the air. I wrapped the string of the dagger around Divine Light's hilt. I held the dagger and spun around with it. That got rid of some of the Grimm near me. "Yeet!" I yelled as I threw the dagger back at Zeke and he grabbed Divine Light. I went into hand-to-hand combat. I fought with a Grimm until I heard Zeke yell, "Finish him!" He threw Divine Light at me. I grabbed it and stabbed the Grimm. It took me a moment to realize that I was surrounded by other Grimm. They must have come after I killed their friend. I looked around, waiting for a moment to strike. They were closing in when green laser came in from above and killed them all. Everyone stopped. This same green laser defeated to rest of the Grimm. A figure that looked like a girl flew in front of the moon and landed. Ruby gasped. I was ready to strike, if anything were to happen. "Penny." Ruby said. "Darling, why don't you say hello to your friends?" Pietro said. The girl turned toward Ruby and her eyes went big. Ruby put away her scythe. I got out of my defensive stance and looked at her like she was crazy. "Sal. U! Tations!" the girl said as she charged toward Ruby. She zipped past like a rocket. I held Divine Light up in front of me to protect myself. The girl tackled Ruby to the ground. I turned Divine Light back into my knives and put them back on my belt. I looked at Oscar with a 'what the hell' look on my face. He just shrugged and we walked toward Ruby. "It is such a pleasure to see you all again!" the girl said. "Penny! I... I thought you-" Ruby got cut off. "Died? I guess in manner of speaking she did, but we were able to recover her core from Animy Arena and get it sent back to Atlas. It took some time but..." Pietro said. "I'm as good as new! Better even and now I'm the official protector of the city!" the girl said. "That's my girl! We're not going to let a little ripping to shreds stop us, are we?" Pietro said. "No sir!" the girl said. "This is..." Weiss said. "Strangely wholesome." Blake finished. "Sounds like Penny to me." Yang said. "We have so many things to catch up about! I can not wait!" the girl said. The alarm started to go off again. "It seems we will have to wait. Let's talk more later I can't wait to hear about all your adventures..." the girl said. She got so far away that even I couldn't hear her with my cat like hearing. "I can't tell if I completely understand what's going on or have like, a million questions." Nora said. "And thankfully, I have about a thousand answers. Let's get out of this weather first." Pietro said. "I have absolutely no idea who that child was. Is she important somehow?" Maria asked. "That was unexpected." Zeke said. "Never a dull moment." Ren said. "But I wouldn't say unwelcome. I was honestly expecting things to go a lot rougher." Qrow said. We all started to follow Pietro and Maria. Everything went quiet. Too quiet. As soon as my foot hit the ground something came up from behind me and locked me in and I fell over. It looked like a bola. I started to try and wiggle out. Everyone else except Qrow were trapped, but Qrow was caught soon after. 5 people stood around us. "Good work team." one of them said. "Hey! What's going on?" Oscar asked. "Hey pal! I'm a licensed Huntsmen. Just to help save everyone?" Qrow said. One of the people picked up Qrow's weapon. They all confiscated our weapons. One of them approached Ruby and picked up the lamp. "Hm. Let's get them loaded into the next transport." one of them said. "Please! We were just trying help!" Ruby said. "What is the meaning of this? What are the Ace Ops even doing down here in Mantel?" Pietro asked. "Ace... Ops?" Ruby asked. "Doctor. Good to see you. Well, we heard a report of an unauthorized ship making an unauthorized landing followed by an unauthorized use of weapons by non-licensed Huntsmen." one of the people said. "I-if we could just talk this out." Pietro said. "They'll be able to talk this out once they get up to Atlas. Let's move out!" the guy said. All 5 of the people that were around us left. We were thrown into a transport ship. "Now this? This is much closer to what I was expecting." Qrow said. The doors to the ship slammed shut.
