CHAPTER THIRTY-THREE

Last Chapter

I wiped my mouth using the table napkin as soon as I am done eating.

"I'm leaving tonight to Russia,” biglang sabi niya sa akin.

Is he going to leave me?

No. Steve promised me that he'll always be by my side, that he'll not going to leave me.

Steve looked at me intently. Observing me. Nanginginig na napasuklay ako sa buhok ko.

"Selene..." mahinang tawag nito sa pangalan ko.

I looked at him with my lips quivering. I shook my head.

I can hear Steve's voice outside the door while he's knocking.

"Selene, let's talk, come on,” he said calmly.

I didn't answer him and just continued crying.

What did I expect?

People are really good at leaving me after I get attached to them.

I suddenly remembered my Dad. He's right. Walang mananatili sa basurang katulad ko.

I sobbed harder.

I covered my whole body with the comforter. I touched my tummy while crying.

"Don't leave me too, okay?" I talk to my baby even though it can't hear me.

I forgot. Steve owns this house. Of course he has a set of keys in every room.

"Selene, I'm leaving, but I won't be leaving you here alone, so I'm asking you if you would agree to come with me."

I stopped crying because of what I heard.

I licked the tears that fell from my lips. Salty.

"My dad called me earlier, and he said that we should go back now to Russia. He needs me to run our company there. My brother can't handle our business alone,” he explained in a soft voice.

"Leaving you here was never in my mind, Selene. Kung saan ako pupunta, dadalhin kita. Hindi kita iiwan o hahayaang mag-isa rito."

What he said touched my heart.

"T-Talaga?" I asked in a broke voice.

"Yes, didn't I promise you?" I nodded. "I don't intend to break that promise."

I know he won't. I believe him. I always believe, Steve.

"You'll bring me to Russia?" tanong ko.

"Yes," he replied immediately.
