CHAPTER TWENTY-SEVEN

"So, should we send them a welcoming gift?"

I shot a death glare at Alliana.

She seemed frightened and quickly raised both hands, conceding defeat. "Nagtatanong lang ako! For formality, you know?"

I shook my head in disappointment and turned to Vince. "Ano? Pwede ba talaga nilang gawin yan?"

He nodded, looking up at me from the pages he was reading. "They didn't breach any clauses from the contract, so yes..."

After I received the letter, I immediately called Vince. He and Miguel are our legal counsels, sila ang nag-ooverlook ng mga legal paperwork namin. So, I asked him to come here and check the letter and our contract with the building management. Hindi ko kasi alam kung pwede yung ginawa nilang biglaang pagbenta nitong building na hindi man lang kami ni-nonotify. I know na nag-rerenta lang kami ng space dito, but still, we have a contract! Sa palagay ko ay hindi pa rin tama na last minute kaming in-inform regarding the change in ownership. This is all so sudden! Hindi man lang kami binigyan ng oras para makapaghanda!

But seems like we have no choice now but to accept everything.

I buried my face in both of my palms and groaned.

I can't believe this is happening. Para akong binabangungot.

Now my ex owns the commercial building where I work. Ano, halos araw-araw na rin kaming magkikita rito? God! Just when I thought na matatapos na ang lahat, mukhang wala pa ata akong kawala mula sakaniya.

Great. Just great!

"Why are you so worked up over this, anyway?" tanong ni Vince. "This is just a change in ownership. The new owners will stick to the contract, wala naman silang babaguhin kaya hindi kayo magkakaroon ng problema."

"Eh, wala naman talaga siyang problema sa biglaang pagbenta nitong building. Ang problema niya ay kung sino yung nakabili. Ano ka ba naman, Vince! Di mo ba nabasa kung sino yung bagong owner?"

"I did..." Vince answered. "So, this is about your ex? I thought you've already moved on?"

Nag-angat ako ng tingin sakaniya at sinimangutan siya.

Nakuha siya sa tingin ko. His brows shot up and he instantly backed away.

"I just don't get it, bakit kailangan pa niyang i-aqcuire itong building? Eh, ang dami-dami na nilang towers! Mas malalaki at matatangkad pa kaysa rito! Tapos ano, magtatayo siya ng panibagong office? At diyan pa talaga sa tabi mismo ng office natin?!" I exclaimed, my chest heaving. "Bakit, ha?! Bakit?! Ano ba talaga ang pakay niya?!"
