Chapter Four - A lot of Lessons

Divination soon ended and now it was time for care of magical creatures with Hagrid. We made our way to his hut.

"You don't suppose the Grim has got anything to do with Sirius Black, do you?" Ron wondered

"Oh, honestly Ron. If you ask me, Divinations a woolly discipline. Now ancient runes, thats a fascinating subject." Hermione replied

"At least your able to stay awake, its a low number on the cryptic scale." I added

"Ancient Runes? Exactly how many classes are you taking this term?" Ron questioned back

"A fair few." we answered as I made my way past him and fell in step with Harry

"Hang on. That's not possible. Ancient Runes is at the same time of divination. You'd have to be in two classes at once.

"Don't be silly. How could anyone be in two classes at once?" Hermione rebuffed "Borden your minds use your inner eye to see the future." she joked making me laugh. We all gather outside Hagrid's

"That's it come on now. Come closer. Less talking if you don't mind. I got a real treat for you today. A great lesson. Now follow me." he lead us into the forrest. It was a lot calmer than it was at night. Tranquil.

"Less talking if you don't mind, now form a group over their. And open your books to page 49 ." Hagrid told us

"And exactly how do we do that?" Draco sassed, meaning that it attacked anytime you tried to open it.

"Stroke the spine of course. Goodness me " I did do, but Neville didn't do it long enough and his went crazy. I dropped my things down and removed my cloak.

"I think their funny." Hermione commented

"Oh, yeah. Terribly funny" my brother retorted "Really witty. God, this place has gone to the dogs. Wait till I tell our father Dumbledore's got this oaf teaching classes." Crabbe and Goyle laughed

"Shut up Malfoy." Harry snipped back at him making them ooh. Draco handed his bag to Crabbe and strutted forward. He find fear.

"Dementor, Dementor." The others looked back but I didn't. I knew he was taking the mick. Slytherin pretended to be the Azkaban guards. I grabbed Harry's shoulder and turned him away.

"Grow up, Draco." I huffed at him, bringing him back to the front. Where Ron was talking to Neville about stroking the spine. Hagrid cleared his throat and made a fanfare sound. My jaw slackened

"Isn't he beautiful. Say hello to Buckbeak." he threw Buckbean a dead ferret.

"Hagrid, what exactly is that?" Ron questioned

"That Ron, is a hippogriff. First thing you wanna know about the hippogriff is they're very proud creatures. Very easily offended. You do not want to insult a hippogriff. It may just be the last thing you ever do. Now, who'd like to come and say hello." I didn't raise my hand or move from my spot.

"Harry, Vega. Well done." I look back and saw that everyone had moved back. only Harry and I didn't notice. What happened to a show of hands or not. I gave a seriously look to my friends

"Come on, now." Harry and I were pushed forward. Reluctantly we made our way over "Now, you have to let him make the first move. It's only polite . So step up, give him a nice bow. Then you wait, see if he bows back. If he does you can touch him. If not...well we'll get to that later." he explained

"Just make your bow. Nice and low." We bowed, i kept my eye on the hypogriff. Buckbeek flapped his wings "Back off, you two back off." we stepped back. I think Harry stepped on a twig.

"keep still" was now the request while still bowing "Keep still." Buckbeek finally bowed back. I let out a breath and stood up. I shared a look with Harry then back at the hippogriff

"Right, I think you can go an pat him now. Go on don't be shy." I stepped forward first and cautiously approached him. Hagrid was given instructions on what to do I reached out and touched his beak stroking it. he reciprocated the touch. Harry did the same with his head "Oh well done you two, well done. I think he'd let the both of you ride him."

"What?" we asked He grabbed Harry first much to his protest, then came back for me. I let out a little squeal.

"Hey, hey. No, wait." I was put on behind Harry.

"Don't pull out any of his feathers because he won't thank you for that." Hagrid slapped Buckbeek on the rear end and he took off running. i grabbed onto Harry's waist as Harry grabbed onto Buckbeeks neck. Out spread his wind and we took of flying.

"Oh my gosh!" I yelled as we took to the skies over Hogwarts, then over the lake. Harry took my hands and we sat up.

"I dare you to hold out your arms." he yelled over the winds. I did so and laughed cheering. Harry did the same and we went up again. I held back onto his waist. There was a whistle and Buckbeek circled our friends before coming into land and slowing down to stop.

"Well done Harry and Vega. And well done Buckbeak." Hagrid cheered then helped Harry down first. Harry turned to he and held up his arms. I swag round and took his help off. Then fixed my hair. "Well done you two. Well done. How am I doing me first day?" he asked us quietly. Harry and I shared a grin

"Brilliant Professor." Harry complimented

"Yes, you're not dangerous at all are you, you great ugly brute." the venomous tones of my brother snapped me out of my happy daze, as he stormed over in our direction

"Draco No!" I call. Buckbeek took offence to my brothers manor and attacked. Draco blocked with his arm but was sent to the floor. "Draco!" I yelled as Hagrid calmed Buckbeek down and cleared the way for me to run over. I dropped next to him as he was writing in pain.

"It's killed me, it's killed me." he whimpered

"Calm down it's just a scratch." Hagrid assured and I looked up at him

"Hagrid he needs to be taken to the infirmary." I insisted and he nodded gathering his thoughts

"I'm the teacher. I'll do it." I stepped back and let my brother be picked up. "Class dismissed." he called over Draco's whimpers and retorts. I stepped back and folded my arms. I felt a nudge and sighed

"You shouldn't have done that." I whisper to the animal, then grab my things following Hagrid.
