(A/n in the middle of writing this chapter I had realized I fucked up the timeline, so let's pretend the scenes all happened the next day. Don't come for me sorry 😢)

If Sophie recalled correctly, she would end up having to leave her family abruptly and she honestly, couldn't deal with that again. Not again. So she decided right then and there she was gonna bring her stuff right away, since she had school it gave her a good excuse to bring her bag.

So she was in the process of packing stuff, the thing she regretted when packing the first time was not bringing more clothes or a book. Since she would in the future, (Or past? She wasn't really sure at this point.) come in handy. She was in the middle of shoving a shirt in when she felt something rub against her leg. She looks down and sees Marty, the usually grumpy cat looking at her with sad eyes. "Oh...I'm going miss you so much!" She sighed, picking him up and petting him. He purrs in her arms and Sophie made a decision in her head.

She was bringing Marty,

So she quickly packed some of his toys, placed him in bag the bag, (it was a miracle everything fitted in there) and made a run for the door.

Once outside, she looks around, thinking if she'd see Fitz considering he said he would find her when. "Are you alright Sophie?" Sophie turns her head and sees Mr.Forkle in the flesh. She couldn't help but give him a relief smile, he was still alive! Which brother he was she didn't know, but it felt comforting to know he was still alive. "Uhm, yea." She said, seeing him give her a smile back, even if it was a bit confused, "You waiting for someone?" He asks, "No, just...getting my bearings..." she said, then flushing a bit.

Those were the words she said before Keefe...

Her heart dropped, no...Oh no-

She shook her head, she can deal with that later. Right now she needs to stay in the moment, "Oh, well shouldn't you be heading to school?" He ask. "Yea...I should probably-" Sophie was interrupted abruptly when a dog suddenly ran up to them. Sophie immediately drops to hold it, despite Marty meow's of protests. Suddenly, a man with blonde hair ran up to them and Sophie immediately recognized him. She froze on the spot, Gethen.

??? POV

"Le-...Agent L, we have to help her!" My sister exclaims as we watched from a far. I shake my head, "She'll be fine, she managed fine before." I said, "But that was before! We shouldn't let-," I growl slightly, turning to her. "Shut up! We may not know all the details of this assignment but we don't interrupt or interfere with any event! Unless were allowed or have too. You know that." She goes silent, but her glare was clear as day. I grumble slightly and turn back, I could hear Agent S snort a bit. But I couldn't care less right now.

"Sorry about that! It's my sisters dog, but she hates my guts. Not my sister, her dog." He said, laughing and Sophie couldn't respond. It felt weird not being able to hear his thoughts, but she knew he would notice and that wouldn't go down well. "...Re-really? She doesn't seem well." Sophie said, looking down at the whimpering dog. "Is it really your dog?" She asks and Gethen rolls his dog, "Yes, now would you help me bring her to my car?-" "No she will not." Sophie felt Mr. Forkle behind her and she sighed a breath of relief, "Now leave before I call the police!" He exclaimed.

"The dog...He stole her," she said, looking at him. "No I did not!" Genthen growls, "I told you, She's my mothers dog!" He said with full confidence, until he noticed his mistake and his confidence faltered. "If your trying to lie then at least keep you story straight, now leave I mean it." Mr.Forkle said.

Gethen shot him a dirty look at them and left running. Mr.Forkle sighs and looks down at her, "Tell me if he ever shows up again and I'll call the police." He said. Sophie nods, "Thank you, but what will we do with her?" She asks, gesturing to the dog. "I'll take her to a shelter once I get a chance." Mr.Forkle said and Sophie nods, "Okay...I'm gonna head to school now Mr.Forkle, see you later." She said, getting up and dropping the dog. Mr. Forkle frowns, "Are you sure? It's a bit early? What if he comes back?" Sophie sighs, "I'll be fine, Thank you." She said.

Mr.Forkle looked like he wanted to protest but he just sighs and nods. Sophie smiles and waves him goodbye and walks away, Marty meowing him good bye as well.

Sophie was leaning against a wall, petting Marty when Fitz suddenly appeared next to her. She barely had time to react when he drags her to a more secluded part. "I told you I would find you," He said grinning. Sophie couldn't help but grin as well.

Even though that night her mind was filled with the horror of leaving her family again, wars, betrayals and the boy troubles. She couldn't help but feel comfortable knowing that haven't happened yet.

"But, we can't leap yet," He said, eyeing the teacher who was eyeing them as if they were gonna cause some mischief. Sophie couldn't help but roll her eyes, "Yea, I can tell...Why didn't you just pick me up this morning?" She asks.

"Missed me that much?" He asked back, flashing a cocky smile. Sophie flushed pink.

"I meant, I was alone! You could've just taken me there!" He blinks, "I didn't think off that..." Sophie and Marty both roll their eyes. "...Why do you have the cat?" He asks. Sophie tightens her hold on Marty, "...Well, I'll be living in the Lost Cities right? Felt right to pack now." She said, looking down. "Huh, good thinking but why the cat?"

"That doesn't matter. I just remembered something! This morning some guy tried to kidnap this dog and I think he was an elf! He had blue eyes and I couldn't hear his thoughts!" Sophie said, trying to shift the topic to something more important. Fitz's eyes widen, "Wha-Are you sure it was an elf? Maybe he had quieter thoughts?" He suggested, "It couldn't be...He was stressed! He would've been loud!" Sophie insisted.

Fitz sighs and takes his pathfinder out of his pocket. "Okay, let's talk about this with my dad. Plus we shouldn't keep the others waiting." He said. Sophie was about to say something but her eyes trailed to a tree where she saw.

Periwinkle eyes.

Who could've that been?

She almost said something but she heard a thought, a dark one, a child's one, think.

Don't say anything, trust.

"What?" Fitz asks, looking at her confused. She blinks and shook her head, "Nothing, I promise." Sophie said. Fitz nods and took her hand, "Ready?"

She wasn't really. She didn't want to leave her family again.

But then again, she'd never regret doing it before. Why start now?

So she took a deep breath and nodded.

Then, they were gone.
