Although the ultimate thought the snores had only been on his mind out of annoyance, he wondered why there was a strange knotting in his stomach, a small unspoken desire in the back rooms of his mind, tempting him to hop into the comfortable bed with the small boy.

Third person

Byakuya sets his book down silently, not wanting to create any unwanted noise that would overtake the sleeping boys pleasant Snoring, byakuya swats the thought away as he stretches.

How could Snoring be considered pleasant? Perhaps I need sleep too.

Togami hesitates; internally fighting a war between leaving Makoto in need for his own slumber or making do with the leather couch that was just big enough for him to lie on. Before he could culculate his conclusion he is alerted by the sound of ruffling sheets from the bed behind him. He turns his head, to see Makoto rolling about on the bed, tossing the blankets all over the place as if he was enveloped in a discomfort of sorts.

A nightmare maybe? That is no good he has been through quite enough.

He briskly stalks towards the bed, as he had gotten closer he heard soft whimpers escaping Makotos scrunched up face confirming his suspicions. He softly places his hand on the boys shoulder, gently shaking him.

"Naegi, hey Naegi wake up."

He hadn't expected Makotos eyes to snap open abruptly, once he made eye contact with Byakuya he jumps back in fright, scared wide eyes and a furrowed brow. The small boy looks around the room with confused, soggy eyes. Having woken up in such a sudden and horrible manner, it took him a few seconds to calm down and use logic.

"Why.. Why are you still here Byakuya?" of all the things that Togami had expected him to ask, that was not one of them. The prodigy releases a somewhat frustrated sigh, "I do not know, but I do not think you would want to be alone... So yes I am here and I will be staying."

Byakuya suprised himself and the other boy with his words, not having expected to tell the other so much about what he was feeling. Makoto nods, quietly thanking byakuya.

"You don't have to though.. You must want to sleep and I'm kee-" Togami cuts him off with a few brisk Tsks dissaproving of the boys monologue. "Stop thinking. Do you want to go back to sleep?" Togami wanted to ask about the nightmare that Makoto possibly had, yet couldn't find it in himself to.

"No.. No I don't.. It was horrible-" Makotos face sours, leading Byakuyas heart to stiffen and hurt in sympathy for the other boy. Pale green eyes meekly look up, swirling with uncertainty and pain. He wanted a hug, he needed some type of physical re-assurance that he wasn't truly as alone as he felt, he couldn't get that from his family. They were all gone.

"Can I get a hug? If you don't want to it's fine I-"

In a swift motion, Naegi is softly pulled into cold arms, his too-hot-for-comfort skin, courtesy of his grotesque nightmare was instantly cooled by byakuyas cold hands.

He felt a little less alone, a little less drained. Yet the pain didn't go away, the pain that crawled in his mind and festered into intrusive and dark thoughts, the pain manifested into heavy weights that held down his every breath, leaving him internally screaming for it to go away.

Byakuya made alot of things better, but why not that? Maybe it's something Makoto has to deal with on his own.

~

Legs entangled together, underneath and on top of the white blanket. Soft rays of late morning sunshine peeking through the window, sprawls across the boys faces. Byakuya was the first to open his heavy eyes, immediately shutting them from the bright and intrusive light.

Why are my curtains open? They are never open

He attempts to move, in order to close the curtains to stop the stupid light. He is unable to, something heavy and oddly soft lay almost on top of him, the memories from the previous day finally register in Togamis mind, leaving behind a plethora of conflicting emotions. He feels an unfamiliar burn on his cheeks.

When did I fall asleep? And on a bed with another man..

His stirring wakes up makoto slightly, he watches as the younger boys magnificent eyes flutter open, Byakuya decides to play off the situation calmly. "Good morning Naegi. Did you sleep well?"

Makotos cheeks brighten with colour as he jumps off of Byakuya. Togami slightly chuckles, thinking of Makoto as a small puppy, he sure looked like one.

The kind of puppy that would be apoted at a shelter. A cute o- no, no shut up.

"Yes I did, thanks for staying with me.. You really didn't have to."

Byakuya shakes his head, although he knew he did not have to, that he could have gotten a better night's sleep in his own bed, he never regretted being there for Makoto, since Makoto is Makoto. He would not do this for anyone else.

"Don't get too excited at sharing a bed with me Naegi." Togami teases snarkily, his usual egotistical comments making Makoto a bit cheerful, although he was still very deflated emotionally.

"What will happen to me now?" Makoto whispers. He was an orphan, what was he going to do now? Who would be his gaurdian? Feeling tears prick his eyes he, without thought, jumps back into Togamis arms. Taken aback the other boy awkwardly places his arms around Koto. He swallows thickly, his mouth turning dry all of a sudden.

"I'll sort it out for you Naegi, you do not have to worry about anything.."

He meant every word, Togami knew exactly what corse of action to take, he suprised himself that he was being so caring he hadn't ever done this before, put anothers needs as one of his top priorities, needs that were not business related.

Togami

Later in the day Makoto and I went to the funeral, there were a few family friends and cousins of his there, everyone was crying. Except makoto, he was not being strong or holding it in, that much could be seen from his solemn expression throughout the funeral service. He was likely in shock. I had to cancel all my plans for the week including classes, and his classes so he could mourn without the added pain of being alone..
I am doing what any friend would do, even if I would not do it for anyone else the fact that it is Makoto makes everything seem different.

I wish I could take his pain away, I wish I could buy his family back into this world somehow. Yet I cant.
T

hank my money for convincing one of his aunts to sign as his gaurdian so he would not be thrown into another emotionally taxing spiral of worry for his future.

He is a very different friend, I have not thought friendships could have so many more feelings strewn into them, I did not think I would worry so much for someone else especially when it is to my own detriment, a hindrance to my normal activities.

But being there for him is more important right now. I miss his joyful attitude and his easy going smiles.
