"Alright class, settle down. It's time for me to explain your latest assignment. Please pass around the assignment papers." Professor Choi announces as he passes out a stack for each row.

"What?" The first student to receive the papers exclaims.

"Awwww, but Professor Choi, we just finished a test!" Another student whines.

He simply cleared his throat. "As I've said before, this is one of the five essays you have to write this semester. However, luckily for you, you won't have to do it alone. You'll be working on this essay in a pair of two."

"Yes! Let's partner up then JB!" One of the rowdier students cuts off.

Professor Choi quickly silences them with further explanation. "You must give me the rough draft of your essay within two weeks, approval is not achieved with delays, to make things easier and fairer, I'll choose your research partner."

Some more students whined and after the professor calmed them down, he continued. Naming one pair after another, he finally reached one of the top students in his class.

"Park Jihyo," she perked upright upon hearing her name, "your partner will be..." Professor Choi scanned the row before landing his eyes on her partner, "Are you asleep? Yoo Jeongyeon. Jeongyeon, you go with..."

At that comment, Jeongyeon's eyes popped open. She begrudgingly turns to her right to immediately make eye contact with equally displeased eyes. The fact that they also spoke at the same time also irked her further.

"No way."

"No way."

"You two will be partners for this essay. Now, as for the next pair..." as the professor continued listing out the students, the two of them grumbled to themselves.

"Just great. I'm stuck with the honor student."

"Wonderful. There goes my perfect score."

"Alright, everyone has a partner, yes?" He waits a moment before continuing, "Then please pair up to discuss your topic. Be sure to exchange contact information if you haven't already and have a rough outline of the topic you wish to partake in by the end of class."

Some of the students excitedly partnered up while some begrudgingly paired up. The class soon trickled into their respective pairs and Jihyo and Jeongyeon were no different. Both the seats next to them were empty however, neither had yet to move. They both turned and made eye contact before expecting the other to move closer. A few intense seconds passed and neither of them was yielding.

Letting out a tired huff, Jihyo rolled her eyes before taking the hit. She gathered her supplies before grumpily getting out of her seat and walking over to Jeongyeon's side. Once she was on her right, she pulled out the chair more aggressively than needed. She then sets down her notebook with a solid thud before dropping her bag down beside the chair.

Jeongyeon simply rolls her eyes at the obvious gesture before leaning back comfortably. "Now what?"

Jihyo's eyebrows were creased. "Now we choose our topic."

Letting out an uninterested hum, Jeongyeon relaxed onto her desk even further. She mindlessly changes the song on her phone before flipping to a random page in the handout that was given. Obviously, Jihyo notices, and that immediately makes her mood even sourer.

"Can you not listen to music while we work?"

Jeongyeon looks her way before blinking. "Ah..." she then sighs softly before turning off the music.
