The alarm blares its mechanical hum, waking me up for my first day of school.

I normally dread the first day of school, everyone swarming in, mingling with each other, talking about what they did or did not during summer break, and the endless rounds of self-presentation between new faculty and schoolmates.

But today is different. Today is my first day of my senior year. And that can only mean...

"Hayden! Breakfast's ready!" calls mom from the kitchen.

I stand up groggily, scratching my belly as I reach the kitchen, where mom has a stack of pancakes, bacon and eggs just waiting for me. Dad is, like always, reading the newspaper, eating a few bites of pancakes in between sipping his dark coffee.

"I know they're not as tasty as the ones you make," says mom, blushing, "but--"

"It smells delicious," I tell her. "Your cooking is always the best, mom."

"You got that right!" says dad.

Before I sit down to eat, dad puts down a small gift box, about the size of a thumb, in front of me, before covering his face with the newspaper again.

"What's this?" I ask him.

"Well, you dad and I have been talking..." says mom, sitting across from me with glee, "and we decided that you need your own mode of transportation for you to get to and from school. So..."

Oh, brother! Is it what I think it is? I run out of the house to see an old, but very well kept convertible. Cherry red. I've always wanted one!

"Oh, thank you, mom, dad," I tell them, hugging them both.

They lean in, each giving me a kiss on the cheek.

I scarf down my breakfast, practically jumping to change my clothes. You know, I hated being a football player, but I do miss the varsity jacket. A sweater will do.

I take my time to look myself in the mirror. It's been 18 years since I was reborn, and besides looking a little bit more scrawny, I haven't changed much. No more abs, though. Just a small belly. Kind of a dad bod really.

God, I love not being a bad boy. I jump into my convertible, and peel out. Thank God I won't be hit by a random truck. Well, at least not for being a bad boy.

As soon as I park the convertible on the school grounds, I'm glomped by a goblin wearing diamond grills and rings in every finger, with a huge chain reading "Bitcoin Zaddy" around his neck.

"sup, loser," yells Brayden, with Jungkook and Harry behind him. They're both spotting luscious curls on their heads, but nothing else has changed drastically.

"Hey, brother," I tell him nonchalantly. "How's business going?"

"you know, same," he says. "being stinkin' rich. nice wheels."

"Nice grills," I add. "What you doing here, anyhow? You haven't been to school in this timeline."

Brayden blushes, scratching his nose meekly. "well, today's the last first day of school. just wanna get the gang together."

"My, my, lookie here,

What a coincidence, my friends,

I thought so as well!" says Okayden's voice, as he appears with an umbrella in hand.

"hey, scoobs," says Brayden, flashing him a smile. "how's the forest? eat any bugs lately?"

"Why don't you simply,

Eat my dick and balls, you small,

Rodent, fuckboy brat," says Okayden.

Brayden runs at him and hugs him. Glomping, even. "i missed you, too, boo."

Suddenly, the air roars in anticipation as a motorcycle roars past the entrance, parking with a screech next to my car.

The driver has a helmet on, but I can already tell who it is. My heart can't stop pounding hard against my chest. So hard it pounds. I'm aching from the hard pounding.

The man takes out his mask to reveal a hair dyed in a rainbow color, all the way to his shoulders, dressed in a cotton sweater and ripped jeans. My man.

My Ayden.

"Hey babe, long time no see," he says, walking towards me and giving me a peck on the lips.

I grab him by the small of his back, lifting him up to my height, kissing him back.

"Why don't we go for a ride after school, just you and me?" he whispers in my ear.

"Oh, babe. You can ride me every time you want."

I'm not going to lie. Life is pretty sweet right now.

As we all four walk towards the school, arm in arm, I can't help to think: I'm happy. I'm finally, totally happy.

I hope Ayden doesn't notice the wedding ring hiding in my back pocket.

THE END.
