"Let me explain something to you sweetheart, eight months ago your soulmate down there had you crying your eyes out about how he mistreated you. Now you have the audacity to take his side over mine" August said irritated
"Look you don't understand" she fanned him off
"No Shelby I don't understand. I don't understand how somebody so smart could be so damn gullible" he pointed "baby don't you realize that the same thing he did to you your now doing to me"
"No this is different" Shelby pleaded
"The only difference is I loved you enough to put a ring on your finger"
"August I didn't mean to hurt you" she tried to touch him and he snatched away
"Shelby you got me" he paused taking a deep breath "you got me in this man's house looking like a fool after everything I've done for you. Why'd you accept my ring?"
"Because I wanted to get married! Not wanting to be like my mother, an unwedded woman searching for love"
"Well baby what was all that I love August stuff was that just a lie like everything else?"
"No, I— I— do love you"
He took her face by both of his hands "then baby what is the problem"
"I'm just not in love with you August" she looked down
"Since when! Since lastnight! When you snuck outta here to go get in bed with him?"
"I think it's time we get our facts straight august, Richard never mistreated me he only loved me. He never kicked me out I ran, I dogged him out because I was pregnant"
"Woah,woah, Shelby pregnant? By him?"
"Yes by him!"
"You never told me you two had a baby together" he shook his head
"I didn't have it, I got rid of it. and that'll be the thing I regret for the rest of my life, but that's my burden to bare not yours" she cried taking her ring off
"No need to take off the ring baby, I understand. You were pregnant by him but we can discuss everything else on our way home let's just leave now"
"August I can't go, I can't keep lying to myself. My heart doesn't belong to you Richard still has it. I'm sorry, I'm sorry it has to be this way"
"Wow, so just like dat? It's that easy for you to walk out my life and go back with your ex? You accepted my ring in front of my entire family" he looked at her in pure disgust
"Well you can use it again"
He took the ring back, held it in the air and just bust out into laughter shaking his head. Pacing the floor back and forth.
"What's so funny"
"It's just that my mother. My mother kept trying to tell me that you were trash"
"Excuse me? What did you just say"
"Yeah she said, August. That girl has deceitful eyes, but ya see I couldn't see it because I was to busy being in love. So what am I to do now Shelby? Go back home without you looking like a fool"

"Have all our friends and co workers laughing at me about how I lost my woman to another man at a funeral?" He bust out in laughter again
"You know what I should've did with you? I should've banged you ona first night, knocked you up, and then kicked yo ass out like a hoe! Then you would've been happy and I would've saved a hell of alotta money on a ring!"
"What am I suppose to do August? Love you more than I love myself?"
"Yes! Yes! But I can see now that you don't give a damn about nobody but Shelby"
"Just relax Aug okay!" she tried walking away but he caught her by the throat
"No you relax! Your not going anywhere Shelby. Not until I'm done with you, until I'm done treating you like slut! A filthy slut, just like ya mama!" He threw her on the bed getting on top of her
"No August stop it!" She slapped him and he slapped her back
"Oh now it's August pleaseeeee" he picked her up in mid-Air shaking her by the throat
"Okay! Okay! August please, stop"
"You owe me and I'm about to collect!" He swung her on the floor standing over her
"What goes around comes around and I'm bringing it back to you special delivery, don't make me hurt chu" he spat pointing in her face
"Richarddddddd" she screamed and he came running upstairs
He pulled August off her pushing him down the stairs, throwing his luggage down behind him. They fought back and forth for a moment until they both grew tired.
"You can have her back now Richard I'm done with our slut anyway" and with that August went out the door and never seen Shelby again
