The atmosphere is very tense and awkward despite Uncle's attempt at making little talks and jokes, the man whose name is introduced as Ronan Dimitri seems to be a man of little words.

Yes, He was introduced to us by Uncle Max and he has also spoken a few words along the lines of "It's nice to finally meet Maxwell's family. I'm sorry for interrupting your dinner." yeah, something along those lines.

I didn't really pay attention as I am too busy ogling his wonderfully built physique. God took his time in creating this specimen.

Melissa and her daughters take turns in introducing their selves in a very flirtatious manner. Typical.

I scoff inwardly.

Uncle Max did the introduction for me and I nod in greeting to him. I don't allow our eyes to make contact, not even for a second cause I know the moment I stare into those set of mystical eyes...... I'm done for.

I eat my lobster in peace but keep my ears open. One thing I notice is how tense and rigid Uncle is tonight. Also, the number of bodyguards guarding the corner is enough to make me notice their presence but what's the need for such security?

Now that I think about it..... Mr. Dimitri kinda looks familiar. I'm pretty sure I've seen him somewhere.

I look up and stare at the man in question. My eyebrows scrunch, I can't seem to pin my finger on how he looks familiar.

There must be something about him that makes him familiar. My eyes trail over his being till they land on his right hand which holds a silverware fork with an elegance I wish I have. But that isn't what catches my eye.

It is the series of black and white tattoo drawings on his hand that has my attention. My eyes squint a little as I try to read the letters on his knuckles which are in Russian but thank God Dad make me learn Russian along with other languages. The letters on his hand when arranged together read, "kruv" which means blood.

Don't tell me-

"Is there something Miss. Valeno wants to say to me?"

I snap out of my thoughts at the sound of his voice. His deep, fruity hoarse voice has the hairs behind my legs stand.

Thankfully, my face didn't expose how his whole being is affecting me.

I clear my throat and stare stoically at him. Ignoring the butterflies in my tummy.

He has a teasing smile playing on his lips and his eyes hold naughtiness and promise.

"So you're from the Russian mafia?" I throw out passively.

Every other thing in the room stops. My Uncle's grip on his cutleries tightens while others just stare at me like I have grown another set of heads.

Rolan swallows his last bite of food and cleans the sides of his mouth with a white napkin before placing it beside his plate.

"What gave it away?"

I shrug.

"The tattoos"

"You understand my language?"

"Yes"

"interesting, " He muses. His eyes still hold the same intent as earlier.

Something about this man puts me off. I really don't know what it is but something about him feels off.

I know about the Russian mafia, the number one, most powerful mafia to exist. Followed by the Spanish mafia and then the Italian mafia.

The Russians are known for being bloody, fast, deadly, and cruel. Looking at this Greek god sitting across me now, I feel the characteristics ooze off him.

Why did Uncle bring him over to dinner? And I know it's not because Donald is a badass cook.

I glance at my Uncle who has been trying to avoid eye contact with me since he arrived. Fishy

Something is going on and I must find out but offending someone from the Russian mafia isn't something I want to have on my plate right now.

It's bad enough that the sub-gangs beneath us are threatening to pull out all because they can't stand to see a woman lead the mafia.

Very pathetic but I strongly understand their plight. The mafia business isn't a child's place and being soft and beautiful will only get you killed, but I'm nothing close to soft.

I give Mr. Dmitri and my uncle a look over before resuming to my lobster.

"So, what brings you here? Mr. Dimitri," Isabella, queried. Using her famous "soft and delicate flower" tone.

I hurry with my food. The faster I finish with it, the earlier I get to leave so I won't have to listen to my Uncle's daughters make a fool of themselves.

"I'm in search of a woman to take as my wife" was his stiff and passive reply.

"Surely there are plenty of beautiful Russian girls," Gloria teases with her overly sweet voice. She pulls her velvet black hair to the back of her left shoulder, exposing her delicate unblemished collarbone.

I take a large gulp from my wine and continue with my food.

"Yes, There are." He returns.

"Slow down child, you are going to choke at that rate" Melissa scolds and I freeze, I look up at them with a raise of a cold brow.

"No manners," Gracie, butts in.

"You can't blame her, after all, there was no way her crazed mother could have taught her" Gloria adds with fake pity lacing her voice.

I continue with my food. I'm definitely not in the mood to exchange words with them tonight. I'm almost done eating.

"I mean," Gloria begins again.

"It's a miracle she doesn't suffer from the same disease."

I drop my utensils carelessly on the plate, resulting in a loud noise.

She's funny. Very funny, so funny, that I begin to laugh with my shoulders shaking.

I take a napkin and clean the sides of my mouth returning it back on the table.

My laughter dies down, I shoot Gloria a threatening glare, with a smile on my face. I let my eyes do the talking.

She leans back, feeling threatened and eyes me carefully.

I push my chair back and get up to leave. My eyes meet with a set of Cobalt blue ones. I nod at him and he does the same.

Now to my uncle, We share a look. A look we both understand. I smile. If I don't leave right this instant, I will end up murdering my uncle's lovely children.

"I'll be in my office if you need me" I bow my head a little and with that, I leave the hall.

I didn't get to finish my Lobster Thermidor.

Gloria's gonna pay for that.
