After Lee told everyone to leave he gave me a quick check-up to make sure I was okay.
First, he checked my eyes by shining light into them to make sure my brain functioning properly as well as my cranial nerves. then he tried to remove my bracelet and I jerk away
"I have to check your blood pressure" Lee said
"You can check it with my neck" I said not looking him in the eyes
"Ok, I check with your neck" Lee said.
He took to fingers and placed them on the artery in my neck then he wordlessly started to count the number of heartbeats
"Ninety seven over sixty one. seems normal" Lee said then he grabbed a reflex hammer to do a patellar reflex and see hows my reflexes were and when he said that I was responding right and kicking he moved on and checked my body temperature which was 98.6 and once he was done with that he pick up a stethoscope.
"If you don't mind I'm going to need your shirt off" Lee said
"Do I have to?" I asked
"If you want me to finish the examination, besides you'll want a clean shirt" Lee said and I decided to listen because I hated being the patient.
I tried to remove my shirt with one arm since the other one was broken and I got stuck so Lee had to help. the moment my shirt was off Lee looked at the bruise on my stomach that was just starting to change color.
"That's a pretty good sized bruise" Lee said
"Shouldn't you have already done this examination?" I asked
"I was going to but Hawthorn said it would be best to do it when you woke up" Lee said
"so how did you get the bruise?" Lee asked as he walked away and then came back with two bottles.
"One of the monsters" I said which
"Must have hurt a lot" Lee said as he poured some of each bottle into a small bowl and mixed them.
"Yeah, it did" I said
"What's that?" I asked
"A little frankincense mixed with nectar" Lee said as he dunked a cloth into the mix and then wiped it on my stomach then he set the cloth aside and move the stethoscope into his ears then place the other end on my chest.
"Take a deep breath" Lee said and I breathed in deep
"Hold it" Lee said and I hold it in until he told me to release then he move to a different spot and did the same thing. he did that about three more times be for he removed the stethoscope and set it aside.
"Well everything seems fine, are you feeling any pain?" Lee asked
"My arm hurts but other than that I'm fine." I said
"I'll give you some nectar and ambrosia squares, they should help a little but don't eat or drink to much" Lee said
"So can I leave?" I asked
"Sure, once you have a clean shirt on I'll let you go and show you around camp since it's not busy in here and since it's getting close to dinner time." Lee said.
Lee helped me put on a camp t-shirt like everyone else had and then he walked me out.
as we walked out I was happy to feel the sun on my skin.
"So over to our left we have the volleyball court and arts and crafts a little bit behind it. up head is the hill you came in at with Thalia's pine tree" Lee said
"Is Thalia a tree sprirt?" I asked and Lee's expression dropped a little
"No, Thalia was a Half-Blood like you and me" Lee said
"Was?" I asked
"She died four years ago right before she made it down to camp and then she was turned into a tree that protects the camp from all monsters" Lee said
"That's a sad story" I said
"Best not to bring it up with Annabeth, Luke, or Grover they were there when everything went down. it hit them pretty bad and I know that they still feel bad at times especially Grover since he was her satyr protector" Lee said and it made me think back on how much Hawthorn did to get Me, Cecil, and Lou Ellen to camp and it made me a little sad to realize that some kids didn't make it no matter how hard their satyr protector tried.
"Best we move on" Lee said as he guided me to the right. Then I quickly walked to catch back up with Lee as we walked past a field of strawberries. We walked off the porch, and I turned to see a large baby-blue two-story house with white trimming and a wrap-around pouch.
"To help pay for expenses, the camp grows strawberries with the help of Mr.D and sales them" Lee said
"Why strawberries? Why not grapes?" I asked and Lee winched like it was a sore subject. Then he looked around to make sure no one was listening and lend close to whisper.
"Mr.D is only here because Zeus is punishing him, and as part of that punishment, he can't drink wine or grow grapes. Never and I mean never, bring this up with him unless you have a death wish" Lee said
"Got it" I said a little scared.
