After resting we got up and I followed Hawthorn as we walked under an overpass and over into a parking lot

"I don't think the bus station is over here" I said

"No but there's a Target" Hawthorn said

"Why do we need a Target?" I asked

"So that we can get you something to wear that won't give you heat stroke" Hawthorn said

"I don't want to put us in danger again" I said

"All we're doing is buying one shirt" Hawthorn said before walking into the store so I had no choice but to follow him.

He walked over to the boy's clothes and looked back at me

"Pick a shirt you like" Hawthorn said

"I don't want to keep using your money" I said

"It's fine, just pick out a shirt" Hawthorn said so I gave in and walked up to one of the racks and grabbed a random shirt, and turned to walked back but then stopped when I saw a white t-shirt on a display table that said Star Wars on it so I put the shirt I had back on the rack and grabbed to one on the display table and walked back.

"Can I have this one?" I asked

"If that's the one you want" Hawthorn said

"Really?" I asked smiling wide and making Hawthorn laugh a little and smile back

"Really" Hawthorn said.

"Yay!" I yelled before I remembered that we were trying not to draw attention to ourselves

"Let's have you try it one and then we'll buy it and head out" Hawthorn said.

we walked over to the fitting rooms and I went into one of the empty ones and closed the door.

I took off my shirt and replaced it with the new one and then I took the bracelet out of my pocket and placed it on my wrist happy to see it covered up everything.

When I looked in the mirror they had in the fitting room and it felt odd to see myself wearing short sleeves again but I found that I felt happy that I was able to.

I picked up my old shirt and walked out of the dressing room

"Looks like it fits, let's go check out" Hawthorn said

"What do I do with my old shirt?" I asked

"Just put it in your backpack" Hawthorn said.

we checked out and started back on our walk and I smiled the whole way and this time it was a real smile. we walked for another hour before we stopped for a break and had something to eat then we went back to walking and after 4 more hours of walking I started to think that we wouldn't make it to the bus station and that we had been walking longer than needed and I saw a bridge I knew why I felt that way.

"That is the south congress bridge" I said

"Is that a bad thing?" Hawthorn asked when he heard the tone in my voice

"The south congress bridge is 10 miles past the bus station" I said

"Wait, We passed the bus station?" Hawthorn said with a look of disbelief

"I know the way back" I said

"Let us just take a small break here" Hawthorn said as he walked over to the edge of Lady Bird Lake and sat down

"At least we haven't had anything show up to kill us since this morning" I said as I sat down next to him

"That's true" Hawthorn said

"Hey" I said looking over to a group of people by a fire

"Are those satyrs?' I asked and Hawthorn stood up and looked over at them

"They are, what are they doing-" Hawthorn said before his eyes got wide.

"What's wrong?" I asked

"Do you see what they are eating?" Hawthorn asked

"Hotdogs" I said as I looked closer

"We need to go" Hawthorn said with a look more panicked than I had ever seen him

"What's wrong with them eating hotdogs?" I asked

"All satyrs are vegetarians, all that is but the Aethiopian Satyrs" Hawthorn said

"And that makes them bad?" I asked

"It does when they like to eat other satyrs" Hawthorn said as one of the Aethiopian Satyrs looked our way.

"Kid I need you to run" Hawthorn said as the whole group of Aethiopian Satyrs stood up and started to walk our way

"What about you?" I asked

"Look I don't know how they feel about half-blood and I don't want you to get hurt" Hawthorn said as the Aethiopian Satyrs started to run at us

"I'm not leaving you" I said .

the Aethiopian Satyrs ran straight at Hawthorn and knocked him to the ground right before he could grab his daggers

Aethiopian Satyrs started to kick and hit Hawthorn trying to get him to stop fighting them and I felt hopeless as I looked around for anything that might help but I could see anything so I did the only thing I could think of to at least distract them.

I took my pointer finger and my thumb and placed them in my mouth and whistled as loud as I could and they all moved away and covered their ears.

"Com on!" I yelled as I ran over and grabbed Hawthorn's hand.

Hawthorn got up as quick as he could and we ran away as fast as we could as the Aethiopian Satyrs tried to gain their sense back.

I ran pulling Hawthorn along as best I could until he regained his sense then he picked me up and threw me over his should in a fireman's carry for the second time and ran faster than I have seen him run and only after we couldn't see the bridge anymore did he stop and put me down then fell down himself to catch his breath

"How far did we run?" I asked

"No...Idea" Hawthorn said between breaths

as the adrenaline rash started to fade I started to feel a sharp pain in my foot from running on it.

"What...Whatever that was back there.....good job kid" Hawthorn said still catching his breath

"It was the only thing I could think of but I didn't know I could whistle the loud" I said

"You...ok?" Hawthorn asked when he looked over and saw me rubbing my foot.

"Just hurts a little, it wasn't healed enough for me to run on it" I said.

I started to look around and a smile made its way onto my face.

"We're next to Upper Crust Bakery" I said excitedly

"Baked goods do sound good at the moment" Hawthorn said

"It's not the bakery itself that makes me happy but the fact that it's not very far from the bus station" I said

"How far are we?" Hawthorn asked

"Maybe 2 miles" I said

"No wonder I feel so out of breath" Hawthorn said.
