This is where things get exciting!!! We are getting to the events in CA:WS and Civil War! I won't go into details and basically write out entire scenes from the movies, but there are a few monumental moments that I feel are detrimental to the story. Also, in this fic I will NOT be following the plotline of Infinity War/Endgame. No snap happens.

Also, HOLY COW 1000 VIEWS!!! I can't thank y'all enough, even if everyone didn't stick around to continue reading. <3 Artie

Oфицер Vassiliev and Herr Fischer sent a copy of the footage of the Winter Soldier losing his mind at the sight of Malo being hurt to Alexander Pierce. The Head of Hydra wasn't thrilled that even their most successful super soldier was difficult to control. He decided that they would put ALL super soldiers into cryo freeze for the time being.

This led to the next hurtle Malo had to get over. Even though she had previously been told she was going to go under with her Zaštitnik, Pierce was second guessing the decision. It was too expensive to preserve someone that wasn't needed to be frozen. Izak, Miller, and even Zaštitnik all made arguments to let them stay together.

In the meantime, Malo didn't go anywhere without her super soldier following close behind. The Black Widows were returning to Russia the a few days, once Dreykov felt he had earned his money's worth from having them train with the great Winter Soldier. Malo was sad to know that she would likely never see Natalia and little Yelena ever again. Even if she didn't get put under, they would be on different continents.

"You two are some of the best, yet I find you in here more often than others," Malo teased. She was fixing up cuts on Nat's face, little Yelena swinging her feet in the chair to the side.

"You should see the other guy," Nat smirked.

"And we are always put up against the adults!" Yelena chimed in. She jumped off the chair to stand in front of Zaštitnik, staring at his arm curiously. He watched her with amusement, one eyebrow raised.

"Yelena, leave him alone," Nat ordered.

"I wanted to know if the arm is real."

"You've seen him in training. Of course it's real."

"Are you strong?"

Malo turned to watch the interaction. Zaštitnik nodded.

"How strong?"

He shrugged.

"Can you talk?"

He nodded.

"Why do you wear the mask? Is it because you're ugly?"

Malo snorted out a laugh at that. Bright blue eyes snapped to her, not finding it as funny as she did.

"I'm sorry, but she's just a kid. It's a little funny. And no, Yelena, he's not ugly."

Zaštitnik shook his head, but allowed Yelena to continue her barrage of questions.

"Are you a robot?"

He shook his head.

"Were you born with the arm?"

After a brief hesitation, he shook his head again.

"Are you the strongest man alive?"

He shrugged, eyes lit with amusement.

"Am I the best fighter you have ever fought?"

"You haven't fought him," Nat reminded her.

Yelena shrugged. "True. Can I touch your arm?"

Malo was shocked when he presented his metal arm for the curious Russian to study. She turned his hand in hers, taking in every curve and plate.
