Elijah Mikaelson

Flashback to 1758

"GOOD morning my love," I say attempting to wake her up "What are your thoughts on walking around the Quarter?"

"Leave me be 'Lijah. Let me sleep." She says, nestling closer into my chest as if it could save her from anything in the world.

It could. I would do absolutely anything for her.

"But I have a surprise for you." She cracks an eye open but closes it just as fast.

"It is not even bright out. Why on earth would you attempt to bring me out at this hour?"

"Because I would never do anything that would negatively affect you. Please love?" She sighs in defeat but doesn't make a move to move. "Maybe I'll just have to carry you there as you are," I say, snaking my arms around her waist in a motion to pick her up. That properly woke her up.

"Elijah Sirius Mikaelson! If you take me out there like this I will be reduced to nothing more than a common whore, and if is that what becomes of me we can never be seen together again."

"And why is that, my love?" I say, pointedly looking her up and down. Before she answers, she does a little spin back to our bed. She does have a habit of calling it mine, but at this point, she spends more time here than in her own house.

"Because what would people think? The mighty Elijah fraternising with people of that calibre?"

"If anyone ever thinks of you that way I will end them like that," I say, snapping my fingers. She rolls her eyes, but giggles. "Darling, do you trust me?" I ask and she nods vigorously. "Then please, do me a favour and dress so we can leave." While she makes a deal out of getting up too early, I follow suit, dressing so we can watch the sunrise.

"I know how much you hate this number, but alas, it is all I have now." She says, stepping out from where she was. I look up and realise the sarcasm she possessed took hold. It was the baby blue gown I bought her a month ago. I walk over and cup her cheeks.

"My love, if we keep messing around we are going to be late."

"No, you will be late. I am ready for anything." I chuckle as I point at the corset of her dress, seeing as it was united. "Elijah, lovely man, will you please tie my corset. You've got me all excited for this surprise of yours." I smile and do what she asks of me.

"Let's go."

"It must be something very special if you're hurrying as much as you are. Usually, you act as if we have all the time in the world."

"My love, please berate me for this in the carriage." She gives me a mischievous smile but walks out the door and down the stairs quietly, into the cold morning.

"Will you tell me where we're going, or is that a secret as well?" I manoeuvre my arm around her shoulders and hold her close.

"We are going to the field you love."

"With the wild horses?" She says, her face lighting up and I nod.

"Why do you think we are leaving at this hour?"

"I thought you were possessed and were trying to make my life hard."

"I would never." We settle into a comfortable silence, my arm around her shoulders and listening to the sounds of the carriage running over leaves and pieces of cobblestone.

Half an hour later, we were there. Morrigan leapt out and breathed in the fresh air.

"Come," I say, extending my hand to her. She takes it happily and I realise we got here just on time. Leading her over to the blanket that I compelled a human to set up, she kisses me, commenting on how sweet this was. All I do is tell her to look up at the different hues of the sunrise.
