(Joker docks the Normandy SR2 at the Citadel, and Shepard steps off onto the dock)
(But as soon as Shepard steps through a gate, it beeps)
Shepard: Huh. That's new
(A turian c-sec officer named Haron taps his comm link)
Haron: Shut it down... What? Do you seriously think... Yeah, ok... Sorry for the inconvenience, sir. Our scanners are picking up false readings. They seem to think you're, um... dead
Shepard: I'm not surprised. I was listed as KIA a couple of years ago
Haron: Would you mind checking in with my captain? He can reinstate you into our system. He's just past the scanners on your right
(Shepard walks into a c-sec room and finds Captain Bailey sitting at a desk)
Bailey: I see the problem already, Commander Shepard. My console says you're dead
Shepard: Don't change it. Anonymity is useful on my current mission
Bailey: Sure. You're a goddamn hero. It's not like we have to worry about you smuggling guns in or anything
(Bailey taps his computer)
Bailey: I just put a block in the system. Officially, you still don't exist, but you're not going to get hassled by security checkpoints. You should still head up to the presidium though. The council would probably like to know that one of their lost spectres is still kicking
Shepard: That's the plan. Having access to the council and the spectres' resources would be useful
Bailey: Yeah, the council can get you anything. The best thing about working c-sec is that any equipment, information, or money you need, you get. Anyway, something else you need?
Shepard: I should go
Bailey: Yeah, s- Wait... Did he just "I should go" me?
(Shepard takes a public shuttle to the presidium wards, but they get stopped by a certain reporter)
Khalisah: There he is! Commander Shepard! A moment of your time?
Shepard: Fine, but make it quick
Khalisah: Khalisah bint Sinan Al-Jilani, Westerlund News
(Khalisah goes to shake Shepard's hand, but he doesn't budge)
Khalisah: I interviewed you two years ago? When you first became a spectre? You presented your case very well on camera
Shepard: I know who you are
Khalisah: Great! Do you have a minute?
Shepard: What, so you can spin my words again and try to do another smear job on me?
Khalisah: Now, Shepard. You may object to my methods, but we're on the same side
Shepard: (Eye-roll)
Khalisah: You're back, so you're news. I just want to give your story it's due
Shepard: Alright. For all the good it'll do...
Khalisah: Well, at least you're willing to talk
Shepard: What's that supposed to mean?
Khalisah: I literally cannot get ahold of your friend, Matthew Thorne. He always just finds some excuse, some loophole to avoid me
Shepard: Hmm. Sounds like him... Was that part of the interview?
Khalisah: No. OH! Right!
