One month after the devastating geth attack on the citadel led by Saren and Sovereign, the galactic community struggles to rebuild
The alliance fleet made a tremendous sacrifice to save the citadel's galactic council and earned humanity membership in their prestigious group
Now the council is forced to respond to the evidence that reapers- large sentient machines that eradicate civilization every 50,000 years, have returned
To quell the rumors, the council sent Commander John Shepard and the Normandy's crew to wipe out the last pockets of geth resistance. Officially, they blame Saren for the invasion
But for those that knew the truth, the search for answers was just the beginning...
When we last left off, Shepard died when the collector ship attacked the Normandy
Or so we all thought...
(2 years after the previous Mass Effect)
(John Shepard is on an operating table. He opens his eyes and sees bright lights)
(Miranda Lawson and her assistant Wilson are operating on him)
Miranda: There. On the monitor. Something's wrong
Wilson: He's reacting to outside stimuli. Showing an awareness of his surroundings. Oh my god, Miranda... I think he's waking up
Miranda: Damn it, Wilson! He's not ready yet. Give him the sedative!
Shepard: (Weakly) What?
Miranda: Shepard. Don't try to move. Just lie still and try to stay calm
Wilson: His heart rate's still climbing. Brain activity is off the charts... Stats pushing into the red zone. It's not working!
Miranda: Another dose. NOW!
(Upon Miranda's command, Wilson gives Shepard another dose of sedatives)
Wilson: Heart rate's dropping. Stats falling back into normal range
(Shepard falls back asleep)
Wilson: That was way too close. We almost lost him
Miranda: I told you your estimates were off. Run the numbers again
(An unknown amount of time passes until Shepard wakes up and hears Miranda's voice)
Miranda: Wake up, Commander
Shepard: Hmm?
Miranda: Shepard, do you hear me? Get out of that bed now, this facility is under attack!
(Shepard feels some pain in his face and torso, causing him to groan in pain)
Miranda: Shepard, your scars aren't fully healed, but I need you to get moving!
(Shepard gets up as explosions shake the building)
Miranda: There's a pistol in the locker on the other side of the room! Hurry!
(Shepard gets out of a surgical bed and opens a locker on the other side of the room. He finds his new armor and a heavy pistol, courtesy of Miranda)
Miranda: Those canisters by the door are going to blow! Get behind cover, now! Keep your head down!
(Shepard rolls behind cover as some canisters explode, blowing the medical bay's doors wide open)
Miranda: Someone's hacking security trying to kill you. Keep your finger on the trigger
