MY EYES BLINKED OPEN, soot covering my eyelashes and face, but I got up immediately, stretching out my arms, the pain searing in my collar bone. Not noticing anything around me as I got in the right headspace, I didn’t see the walker groaning its way towards me until someone slammed it to the ground with a rock. My eyes widened as I saw it, seeing Louis smiling nervously from behind the monster. AJ and Clementine rushed up beside me after getting up from the sand themselves, all of them smiling at the boy.
AJ: Louis! You made it!
Louis: Yeah. Yeah, I did. I’m still kickin’. For better or worse.
Emma: Definitely for better.
I wrapped him a hug and he smiled, hugging back immediately.
Emma: Thank God, you’re okay.
Clementine: We were so worried. You have no idea how happy we are to see you right now.
Louis: I think I have some idea.
He chuckled and I let go of him, everybody’s heads turning to see a commotion at the bank of the river. Violet was trying to climb up the rocks, hands slipping as a walker caught onto her ankle, gripping on and trying to drag her back. Her frustrated groans as she tried to get away made us all rush over.
