𝗠𝗢𝗩𝗜𝗡𝗚 𝗢𝗨𝗧 𝗢𝗙 𝗧𝗛𝗘 𝗪𝗔𝗬, 𝗜 𝗟𝗘𝗧 𝗖𝗟𝗘𝗠 go up the ladder before me, her smile still in place from the headmaster’s office and my smile was returning it just as broadly. I pulled myself up the ladder after her, finding AJ holding a pair of binoculars, but stopped looking out into the woods when we reached him.
AJ: Are you two married now?
Emma & Clementine: Huh!?
AJ: From the truth or dare game, y’know? You said I was gonna be a ri– ringboy.
Clementine: Oh… No, we’re not married.
Emma: Hmm. Not yet.
The girl sent me a teasing look, hitting my arm gently and AJ rolled his eyes, turning back to the woods with the binoculars. We both went to stand next to him, finally getting to work.
AJ: The raiders… That guy. He’s gonna be with them.
Clementine: Abel. Yeah.
Emma: Those bad dreams you keep having. They’re about him, aren’t they?
