𝗧𝗛𝗘 𝗥𝗢𝗔𝗗 𝗪𝗔𝗦 𝗟𝗢𝗡𝗚 𝗔𝗡𝗗 𝗪𝗘𝗡𝗧 𝗙𝗢𝗥 miles ahead of us, the sun setting above us and the clouds doing nothing to stop it from blaring onto our skin. Our shoes beat down into the road, the tarmac crumbling beneath as we kept walking past the trees.

AJ: Emma? Clem?

Clementine: Hm?

AJ: Will we be okay? I thought we were done running from all the bad people. And the monsters.

Emma: We’re gonna be okay, bud. We always have been, we always will be. We’ll make sure of it.

AJ: I hate it out here. I wish we could go back.

Clementine: Yeah, so do we.

We all let out a breath, then there was a resounding gunshot. A tree a few centimeters away from us splintered with the bullet and we all looked at it, eyes wide.

Emma: Get down!

Running to get behind some trees, we sat with our backs to the road, my chest rising and falling rapidly. Taking a minute, I moved my head out from behind the trunk, seeing the man who had tried to steal our food yesterday walking through the forest with a sawed-off shotgun. A bandage was covering his arm, showing that he now only had one arm.
