Lilia, unlike Sera, couldn't quite smile genuinely, as the tenison and awkwardness seemed to be making her arms stiff at her sides, shoulders dropping and back hunched a bit, as if tyring to make herself smaller and disappear form the world, "I don't mind at all," her voice shaky, "Sorry I was late, there was traffic"
"Oh don't worry!" Sera replied, as nice as shes always been as she gestured for both of them to sit down instead of standing infront of eachother awkwardly, "I just got here a few minutes before you!"
"I see..."
The awkwardness seemed to flow thickly, as Sera only could laugh nervously this time, as Lilia opened her mouth several times as if to speak, but couldn't get any words outs, "Its been a long time, hasnt it?"
While Sera was staring at the girl, Lilia herself seemed to be unable to make eye contact with those amber eyes, and kept glancing to the side, before settling on the table, "Yes...congratulations on graduating. I know its late and all, but I wanted to tell you that in person."
It been a little over a year since Sera graduated, and over two years for Lilia.
Even then, when Lilia graduated, instead of spending time with her then boyfriends, she spent the night with Sera. They got onto the last train at night on impulse, going to their home town without telling anyone as they chatted throughout the entire night. They ended up finding themselves, with Lilia still in her graduation robes, laying down on the grass of the park they always spent their childhoods and teenage years in, and just talked aimlessly about everything and nothing.
Both watching as the sun rose, as if they were back in the first year of highschool, before Lilia met her soulmate, when it truly was just Sera and Lilia.
That night, was the last time Sera could remember, genuinely feeling at ease with Lilia.
"Thank you," Sera's smile faded a bit, into a smaller but more genuine one as she remembered Lilias graduation night, "and I hope veterinary school is going well?"
"Is it."
"Thats good!"
Before either of them could get a chance to say anything else, the waiter came, with a beaming smile and their drinks "Here you go ladies!" she spoke cheerfully, "a Vietnamese coffee and an iced peach tea!"
Both the girls took their respective drinks and thanked the waitress, suddenly finding the flow of the conversation to disappear as they silently sipped on their drinks. Neither wanting to start back the conversation.
"So..." Sera trailed off after noticing sometime went by and their drinks were slowly but surely disappearing, "You wanted to talk?"
Nodding, Lilia after all was the one who reached out first and suggested this meet up. There was many things Lilia wanted to say, both now and in the past. Especially the last time they talked in the hospital. When Lilia still had that arrogant pride and stupid belief she was clinging onto, that prevented her from fully saying the thing she wanted to say.
So, the words she's been thinking about all this time to Sera, flowed out, "yeah...I want to first apologize to you, about everything. Im sorry for being so dishonest to you and doing a lot of horrible things to you. There really are no words for me to say how sorry I am for hurting you, and that I can only try my hardest from now on to make it up to you, Sera."
There were still at least an hour more of apologies and things Lilia wanted to say, but Sera interrupted her before she could continue, "...Apologies accepted. I'm also sorry to you as well."
That unconditional selflessness that Lilia hated in Sera was still there, and always seemed to catch her off guard and feeling worst, "Why do you have to be sorry for?" Lilia asked, genuinely upset that Sera, after all this time, is still apologizing to her, when Lilia was the one who came here to apologiuse.
