Fourteen.

One-four-zero-zero, reads on my wrist when I wake. That's fourteen minutes left. Fourteen minutes until my timer hits zero. Until Clay's timer hits zero. Every part of that ideal scares me but also excites me. How could I fear a life with the one?

Clay could possibly be the best person to have as your soulmate. He knows everything there is to know about everything and everyone. No one hates him. Well, besides myself. But even I don't hate him like I once did. A close second to myself would be Tommy. But the only reason Tommy dislikes Clay is because he wishes he were him. He wishes he had the power and knowledge Clay beholds.

Honestly, the government even picks his side. When we return back to the commune, and if we get caught, I'm sure they'd say I kidnapped him. There is no way they'd actually send him away. He's kept their land afloat for years. How could they ever send someone so useful away?

Clay stirs beneath me as I shift against his chest. I sit up slowly to see the others holding their backs. I don't feel any empathy for them. I've been dealing with this for weeks now. This is nothing. Honestly, last night wasn't too bad. One of the best nights I've had in awhile.

"Good morning." I groan out past a dry throat.

"Where did you guys run off to last night?" Nick instantly questions. He doesn't take long to get to the chase. He doesn't want small talk. Never really has.

"I wanted to rinse off in the water but ended up going the wrong way, so Clay came to find me I guess." I shrug my shoulders as I reach my arms out to stretch.

"You were gone quite awhile." George inputs. My brows furrow for a quick second, questioning why he's finally decided to join a conversation I'm involved in.

"We need alone time. We're soulmates only minutes from getting our confirmation." I glance at my wrist and reach toward the red number. My fingertips graze over my skin before focusing back on the lovers. "There's a lot that needs to be talked about without others around."

"You've had weeks to talk." George speaks again. I've learned the emotion on his tone so well. It's jealousy. George is jealous. But why? He. Has. Nick.

"You know what it doesn't matter." I throw my hands up in the air. "I give up."

Six-zero-zero. Six minutes left.

"Come." Clay speaks softly, pulling me down toward him. His body still lays in the same position he's spent the night in. "We need to wake up on the right side of the bed."

"I have. Your boyfriend hasn't." I bite but instantly my body softens as my skin begins to glow. The green shines bright. I still don't understand how the others don't see it. I'm lighting up our entire area but to them our world is dark. But as I look over at Nick his eyes study my skin. His eyes focus where the green holds bright.

Two. Two minutes left.

"Cuddle just a little longer then? For an hour of no bickering in return?" Clay tries to bargain. Something he's never done. He only ever gets his way. There is no peace offerings. He fights until he gets what he wants. I also love our bickering. I don't want it to subside for an hour.

"I'll cuddle but I don't need anything in return." I speak but I can't even feel my lips moving. They're on fire. My entire body tingles. My entire body is on fire. But my lips. My lips are so red hot I swear I could boil a pot of water on them. I know I'm a green light bulb right now. Every part of me just lights in green.

Twenty-four. Twenty-four seconds until I finally have him forever.

I lay down in Clay's arms as our timers continue to tick down further and further. The time seems to only quicken the smaller the number gets. My heart is pounding out of my chest as I watch the number drop out of the corner of my eye.
