029. | FREEDOM

Iris rolled her eyes as she saw Caroline alive and healthy on the phone. She turned and glared at Klaus, but he only shrugged and gave her a smile.

The Gilbert girl continued to do what she always does, stare at Kol. She hoped if she focused on him long enough, he'd heal, wake up, and they could run off together. But no such luck.

"Need my help with anything, love?" Klaus questions the blonde.

"Nope." she sighs before walking off.

"What do you see in her?" Iris asks. "She's judge mental, controlling, rude to all of her friends, not to mention, she only speaks to you when she needs something. So what is it you see in her?"

Klaus smiles at the girl. "What'd you see in Kol?"

Iris laughs at him. "Is that your weak attempt to turn my humanity on?"

"I have no intentions of turning your humanity on. I doubt I'll be the person able to do it. I'm quite excited to see this side of you, it was just a simple question, though." he explains.

"I don't know what I saw." she says. "I don't feel it anymore, so I can't really tell you."

"So you truly don't feel in anything?" Klaus asks.

"I feel annoyed. Because you keep talking to me." she turns towards him.

Klaus nods before walking towards the other side of the room.

"Well, if it isn't little orphan Lockwood." Klaus smirks as the vampire and hybrid walk through the door. "Come to show how laughably impotent you are against me?"

"Looks like they found your sword, Klaus." Iris informs him as she gets up and sits on the edge of the couch.

"I'm just trying to help my friends find the cure, Klaus. So yes, we found your sword." Tyler says.

"And you think finding the sword brings you closer to the cure?" he asks.

"You tell me. I was playing around with the handle on the ride over... and I found this." Tyler takes off a leather cover.

Klaus stands up. "And what do you think this is?"

"It's called a cryptex." Caroline walks over to the two. "I've seen "The Da Vinci Code". You turn the different sides to the different symbols to get the translation on the other side. And, with the magic of the internet, Elena sent over these. So now all we have to do is cryptex away."

"If you happened to want to help, we wouldn't stop you." she informs the original hybrid. "You too, Iris."

Iris only hummed before looking at Klaus as he started to speak. "Right. Well, might I suggest using the magic of the internet to purchase an Aramaic-to-English dictionary from your nearest retailer?"

"What's Aramaic?" Tyler asks.

"It's a dead language." Caroline answers. "It hasn't been used since, like, biblical times."

"Qetsiyah's native tongue, I'm guessing. You know, even if you had the best dictionary in the world, it could take days to translate... perhaps weeks." Klaus taunts. ""In abs so-teen-too-ara-eet"."
