Chapter Twenty-Five

"I missed her first day in school." Malungkot niyang saad. "I'm so sorry, Sweethert." na muling niyakap ang bata.

"It's okay, Baby, you can still make it up to her. You can still have until her college days." Pinapagaan ng mister ang loob niya.

"But first day is different." Pilit pa din niya.

"It's not the official or a regular class yet. Summer class is just a trial class for her age and this coming school year in June will be her first official schooling." Paliwanag ng asawa kaya't medyo gumaan ang loob niya.

"Really?" Aniya at sa bata na tumingin. "Does that mean I can still send you to school on your first official day in class?"

"Yes po." Sabay tango ng anak. "You can also take me to school today, Mommy. I want my classmates to meet you. Please..." Paglalambing nito.

"Ofcourse, darling. I'd love that."

"Yehey!" At nagtatalon na ito sa kama dahilan upang magising ang bunso.

"Come on, Seph." Aya ng amain. "Bath time and then breakfast before going to school. Susunod na lang si Mommy kasi gising na si Sedi."

"Okay, Daddy." At tumalon papunta sa ama na sinalo naman ng lalaki at binuhat na palabas ng kwarto.

Binalingan naman ni Vix ang bunso na mukhang maganda ang gising dahil nakabungisngis na ito sa kanya.

"I promise, Sedi, I won't miss your first day in school." Aniya at saka niyakap at hinarot ang anak.

Pagkatapos nilang makapagbihis at makapag-almusal ay bumiyahe na silang tatlo papunta sa nursery school ni Seph. Kita ni Vix ang excitement sa mukha ng bata habang papalapit na sila sa pupuntahan. Panay ang kwento nito tungkol sa mga kaklase at sa mga naging ka-close na nitong kaibigan.

"Madami-dami din palang mga estudyante ang nagsummer trial ngayon." Ani Vix nang pagkahinto nila sa harapan ng building ay naroon ang  ilang mga bata kasama ang mga nanay.

"Yeah. They have three full classes of summer trial here. Buti nga at nakaabot si Sephy dahil almost full na nung na-enroll ko siya." Sabay tingin nito sa rearview mirror sa anak. "She needs it at that time- a distraction from what's happening around her."

Ruby understood what her husband is talking about. Her daughter is too young to experience those dramas that she created.

"How was she in school?" Mahinang tanong niya.

"Her teacher said that she wasn't participating much during her first two weeks. She didn't want to play with her classmates and mostly wanted to be left alone."

Vix pitied her little daughter. Classes should have been a wonderful experience for her, learning new things together with other kids and actively participating in their activities. But because of what she did, her daughter had to suffer the consequences.

"It was my fault. She didn't get to enjoy her experience here." Aniya na napayuko pa.

"Hey, don't be sad anymore. You're here and she's gonna be having a good time from now on." At kinurot pa ang pisngi niya para patawanin. "Okay, time for school." Sabay baba na ng sasakyan.

Pinagmasdan ni Ruby ang asawa na pumaikot na sa banda nilang mag-ina upang pagbuksan sila ng pintuan. She saw how the other Moms' eye beams when Percy waived at them. It looks like her husband is so popular with them.

"Hello, Inspector Montenegro. We are so delighted to see you here." Wika ng isang babae na halos ka-edad lang din niya.

"I'm here almost every day since I'm the one driving my daughter to school, Miss Trinidad." Magalang na sagot ng lalaki.
