The bright light blinded me for a second as I felt small beads of sweat roll down my forehead. My fingers felt like they were about the bleed as they pressed down on my guitar strings. I was next to Bobby as Luke did a risky but also kind of cool guitar flip.

I made my way over to Reggie and shared the mic with him. Luke was our lead singer, but we sometimes got some parts. I smiled as I sang, my nose slightly scrunching up as I looked into Reggie's blue eyes. He gave me a wink. He always gives me winks, but for some reason, this time felt different. My stomach did a weird flip-flop sort of thing. I honestly can't describe it.

I’ve never felt this way around him before. It feels like when I was with Daniel but different. A good difference, obviously, but it’s scaring me.

Reggie notices I’m a bit uneasy and gives me a worried look. I give him a small smile, letting him know I’m okay. Nothing was said, but our eyes created the entire conversation. Alex was watching the whole thing, a smirk visible on his face.

It's now or never (now or never)

We end the song on one beat. The lights lowered, revealing an empty venue, except for the few workers tending to tables and tech guys. Two girls cheered for us.

“Thank you, we’re Sunset Curve!” Reggie smiled

“Too bad we wasted the tightest we've played on a soundcheck Bobby quipped.

“I wouldn’t say ‘wasted’...” I mutter, earning a small chuckle from Reggie from behind.

“Wait until tonight, man, when this place gets packed with record execs. Luke said excitedly. He had a feeling tonight would change everything. It did.

“Alex, you were smoking." Reggie exclaimed, walking over to our drummer.

“Oh no. I was just warming up. You guys were the ones on fire.” Alex said bashfully. He’s too modest sometimes.

"Could you just own your awesomeness for once?" I respond, appearing on his left side.

"Alright, I was killing it," he admitted. I smiled and gave him a side hug.

"OK, well, I'm thinking we fuel up before the show. I'm thinking street dogs." Luke said, rubbing his hands together.

"Ooh!"

"Ehh."

"Yes."

I would never understand the guys' weird obsession with street dogs. I mean, they come from the back of a van in an alley. What part of that sounds like a good idea?

"Hey, Bobby, where you going?" Luke asked, walking over to where Bobby had gone.

Bobby had wandered over to a table. We followed him and saw a young woman around our age cleaning the table.

"I'm good. Vegetarian. I could never hurt an animal." Bobby replied, smiling at the stranger in front of us.

I roll my eyes. Bobby has never been good at flirting.

“Have I taught you nothing?” I mumble, earning a snicker from Alex beside me.

“You guys were really good.” The girl said.

“Thank you." Luke replied excitedly.

Alex and I shared a look, knowing very well that the other three boys instantly were crushing on this girl.

The girl smiled, “Yeah, I see a lot of bands. Been in a couple myself. I was really feeling it.”

“That's what we do this for. I'm Luke, by the way.”
