CHAPTER 24

Nathan’s POV

“NATHAN!”

Naipikit ko ang mata ko nang sigawan ako ni Levison sa tapat ng tainga ko. I touched my ear and glared at him.

“What the hell is your problem?” Inis kong sabi sa kaniya.

Edzel sighed. “Kanina ka pa kasi tahimik diyan. Malay ba namin kung anong problema mo? Ang layo rin kasi ng tingin mo.”

I sighed deeply. “Kayo ang hindi ko maintindihan. Anong ginagawa niyo dito sa opisina ko?” tanong ko sa kanilang dalawa.

Biglaan kasi ang pagpunta nila dito.

"Wala," sabi ni Levison. "We're just visiting you."

"Okay." Tumango na lang ako.

"So, anong problema mo?" tanong ni Edzel sa akin. "Parang ang lalim naman kasi ng iniisip mo."

"My wife's birthday is coming," I said.

"And?" Tumaas ang kilay ng dalawa.

Umiling ako. "I don't know what will I do. I wanted to make surprise for her but I know she doesn't want to have a party and she wanted it to be simple."

"Then make it simple," Edzel said.

"Easy for you to say because you're not the husband here. Ellaine has a weird taste."

"Then make also weird," Levison said.

"How?" tanong ko.

Nagkatinginan ang dalawa.

"Nathan, my bud, you're one of the clever business man I've known in my life. So, dapat alam mo na din ang gagawin mo. No need for us to say it to you," Levison said like he's scolding me.

Napailing naman si Edzel. "Mukhang tama nga ang sinasabi ng iba. Love can make you crazy," tumingin siya sa akin, "malapit ka ng mabaliw."

Levison chuckled. "Nathan, if your wife wanted to be simple then why not just ask her."

"I don't want her to know. It's a surprise," sabi ko.

"Woah. Mr. Fuentebella is throwing a birthday surprise for his wife. Let me tell you, you never did it before, right?" Nakangising sabi ni Levison.

Umiling ako. "This is the first time."

Edzel sighed and shook his head. "Just do what your heart says. The important thing is your sincerity. Ellaine is a nice woman. I can say that she's not a materialistic woman and even a simple things can make her happy."

"You're right," sabi ko kay Edzel.

"Then what's your plan now?" tanong ni Levison.

Ngumiti ako. "Simple."

My wife's birthday is next week. She's at school at time so I have a whole day to prepare everything at the mansion. I just need a little cooperation from her friends. So, the night before her birthday, palihim kong kinuha ang number ng kaibigan niya sa cellphone niya.

Erica said that she will cooperate with me.

Sa totoo lang, kinakabahan ako sa gagawin ko. This is my first time to do this kind of thing. I already saw Levison preparing surprises for his wife, Francine. Nakikita ko naman na natutuwa si Francine pero hindi ko alam kung matutuwa si Ellaine.

"You looked tense," sabi ni Francine sa akin.

She's here at the mansion, helping us to decorate.

"I'm nervous."
