Chapter 6

Hi guys!  Thx to everyone who's reading the book and I hope you enjoy reading it. In this chapter y/n and Newt have a sweet moment and  I think it's very cute so I hope you enjoy it too.

Y/n

While Newt was telling me how bad it was to be a runner all I could think about was the adrenaline I would feel while running through the maze. "And, Newt. Umm what if I wanted to be a runner?" I asked him meekly, already knowing what he would say. I looked up at his face to see he looked shocked at my question and he stuttered a little before answering. "Umm, y/n are you sure. After what I just told you?" he asked me, his eyes pleading me not to say no. "haha no, It was a joke" I responded sadly as his eyes lifted slightly to meet mine. "Ok, y/n."

Newt

I didn't know why but I had a deep sensation of worry and concern for y/n. She had told me she wanted to be a runner and just then my heart felt like it dropped right down to my toes. Right after she told me that it was a joke but I couldn't get that horrible feeling out of me no matter how hard I tried. I looked up at her and saw the sadness in her eyes as she said it. I cupped her face in my hands and turned it to mine. "Y/n, you can do and be whatever you want because I'm not the one to tell you otherwise. The only person that can do that is yourself" She smiled for the first time since she came up through the box and I admired how any expression she wore complemented her face perfectly.

Y/n

Even though I wasn't looking directly at him I could clearly see that Newt was staring at me profusely studying my every move and breath. "You stare a lot don't you?" I Said to him, chuckling slightly as I watched his face flush as I turned to look at him. "I wasn't looking at you I was looking at the forest next to you" He said and I couldn't help myself to laugh at that lame excuse "You couldn't think of anything else could you?" I said giggling. "How dare you!" He laughed back at me and at that moment I knew that I wouldn't mind spending the rest of my life here. "C'mon y/n, bedtime" Newt told me and I laughed at him pushing his shoulder slightly. "No but really, come on," he said, a little more serious than before. "Alby told me that you're going to sleep in the meeting hut tonight as you don't have a hut yet" Newt said to me and I nodded my head, no words needed. We walked together mirroring each other perfectly on our way to the meeting hut. Our demeanor changed slightly as we realized this is where we parted and Newt turned to face me, suddenly pulling me into a goodnight hug. I tried to make it less uncomfortable for Newt by standing on my tippy toes and then I just enjoyed the moment... A few seconds later Chuck came up to me so I had to let go of Newt. He smiled widely up at me and I smiled back at him. "Hi y/n! I was just wondering if I could sleep with you tonight. Please?" He asked me "Sure!" I said, looking back at Newt waving goodnight to him with a warm smile.
