Chapter 15

Alby looked up from the note with tears in his eyes and he slumped down on the bed next to me. I could imagine Newt writing the note on his desk and tears filled my eyes as my vision went blurry. There was only one thing on my mind, Save Newt. I ran out of the hut the fastest I've ever run in my life and my legs burnt like shuck. I was heading to the doors and I could hear the doors closing and the wind in my ears, I knew I could do it in time. I had to, for the sake of Newt. Even though the huts were on the other side of the Glade, I ran until I couldn't breathe and until my lungs were on fire. I was about to reach the doors when I felt myself being violently yanked from the edge just as the doors closed and I screamed with pain and anger. I screamed "Nooooo!!!!" again and again and again until my throat couldn't take it anymore and stopped me screaming. I broke down crying in front of the doors while whoever yanked me back, stroked my hair and reassured me that it was going to be ok. I turned to them still not knowing who they were and I screamed into their shoulder, still on the floor.

Newt

I woke up on hard stone ground and as my eyes adjusted, I realized where I was. The maze. I rubbed my head and groaned, trying to jog my memory of what happened to make me get stuck in here. I remember making a goodbye note, but I never meant to actually use it. I may have to now. I then remember stumbling to Fry and stealing alcohol. I couldn't remember anything past that, I guess I must have stumbled into the maze by accident. By the looks of it, it was still day. "Ok Newt, you still have time to get back to the Glade" I said to no one in particular as I hoisted myself up with a groan. My leg hurt really bad and it stung as well. I bent down to look at it and I saw it was covered with black and blue bruises and in the middle was a big bloody hole still dripping with blood. "Shit!" I said out loud while beginning to walk around, limping. I just kept walking around in pain, until I looked up and noticed that it was evening, that meant the walls were closing now. I was swearing under my breath as I realized I didn't have a chance of survival in the maze tonight. And even if I survived tonight I would be banished when Alby found out I had been bitten. I could hear the maze doors closing from behind me and I sharply turned around and started slowly running towards the noise. I kept following my instinct until the noise stopped and suddenly an ear piercing scream filled the air followed by a "Nooooo!!" filled with pain, anger and grief. I recognised the scream to be Y/n's instantly and my heart ached for her. But it was better now that she thought I was dead as I was going to die either way. I climbed the vines on a side of the wall and layed down on it, looking onto the glade's tallest trees and the walls behind it. "I should just go to sleep here and wait till I never wake up again, I guess".I said to myself sleepilly while resting my head onto my hands and sighing deeply,feeling myself falling asleep for the last time.
