TREPIDATION

THE FIVE YOUTHS all poked their heads out of the restroom door and saw that a large crowd of people were exiting the cinema. A perfect opportunity to blend in, since the evil Russians were no doubt coming after them.

"And blend, blend, blend." Dustin repeated himself, ushering everyone out of the restroom. The five of them shuffled along with the crowd, keeping their heads down.

"Well, shit, that worked." Erica said in surprise when she noticed that no one was taking any notice to them.

"Of course it worked. All we have to do now is get on the bus with the rest of these plebes and home sweet home." Dustin said.

"Uh, Dustin?" Steve said, sheepishly. "We might not wanna go to your house."

"What? Why?" Dustin asked.

"Well, I might've told them your full name." Steve winced when the words left his mouth. Irina's eyes widened and her mouth fell open. Well, shit.

"What is wrong with you?!" Dustin hissed.

"Dude, I was drugged." Steve defended.

"So?" Dustin snapped.

"So?" Steve questioned in disbelief.

"So you resist. You tough it out." Dustin told him.

"Oh, yeah, easy for you to say." Steve remarked. Irina's face dropped when she saw a man in the distance asking a woman a question. A man dressed in black with a Russian accent and very closely resembling the men working for the lab.

"Guys?" She said, catching their attention. When they saw what Irina saw, they all stopped in their tracks.

"Abort." Dustin muttered, but it was too late. He'd spotted them.

"Go, go, go." Irina ushered them back and they all hurriedly changed direction. The five of them ran back through the crowd but halted when they got to the escalator. It had stopped moving.

"Shit." Robin mumbled but quickly squeezed into the gap between the moving stairs and slid down, closely followed by the other four. They sprinted round a corner but jumped when they all heard a gunshot. The men were armed.

"Shit, shit, shit." Steve cursed and they all leapt behind a cashier counter at a stall. That's when Irina felt it. The burning in her arm. The adrenaline must've kept the pain away, but now she could feel the blood dripping.
