CONFINE

THE ELEVATOR CAME to a sudden halt, making five youths inside tumble to the floor. They all groaned in pain as they found their way back to their feet.

"Is everyone okay?" Robin asked, really shaken up.

"Yeah, I'm great now I know the evil Russians can't design elevators!" Steve yelled, stomping over to the buttons.

"I think we've clearly established those buttons don't work." Robin said.

"They're buttons, they have to do something!" Steve snapped.

"Steve, we don't have a keycard." Irina said, placing her hand on his shoulder in an attempt to calm his rage a little.

"What?" He asked, confused.

"The lock is electronic, so it won't work without a keycard. Like the one the guard had to open the door yesterday." Irina explained.

"So we're stuck in here." Dustin concluded and Irina nodded.

"Just so you nerds are aware, I'm supposed to be spending the night at Tina's, and Tina always covers for me. But if I'm not home for Uncle Jack's party tomorrow, and my mom finds out you four are responsible, she's gonna hunt you down down one by one and slit. Your. Throat." Erica warned and Steve slapped his hands down on one of the boxes.

"I don't care about Tina! Or Uncle Jack's party! Your mom's not gonna be able to find us if we're dead in a Russian elevator!" Steve shouted. Irina ran a hand through her hair. This was it. Steve, Dustin, Robin and Erica were all going to die and she was gonna be brought back to the secret Russian facilities to be taken back as a spy and an assassin.

"Hey," Dustin started. "What if we climbed out?" He said, pointing to a trap door in the top of the elevator. Him and Steve pushed it open to take a look what's up there.

"S-so, you said you've seen that green chemical stuff before, right?" Robin asked Irina, who hesitantly nodded.

"I don't know exactly what it does." She said.

"Where've you seen it?" Robin asked.

"I, uh," Irina stuttered but Steve and Dustin jumped back down through the trap door before she could continue.

"Yeah, we're not climbing out." Steve said, having seen how far underground they now were.

Hours went by and still no motion from the elevator or any communication from the walkie, despite Dustin's efforts.
