Part 1

Y/N's P.O.V.

You know what really sucked? Having a soulmate.
It was exhausting.
I hadn't told anyone I had found my soulmate, I couldn't. Not when the only people I could tell were the Avengers, who the only people who treated me like I wasn't some kind of freak, and my soulmate was a literal bad guy who tried to kill them several times.
I first met him when I was relatively new to the team, meaning I was being subjected to a lot of training and when the one and only Loki of Asgard attacked the tower, I was nowhere near ready.

"What's this...?" The God had asked after he had managed to corner me.
"The Avengers found themselves a new pet?" He pointed a dagger at me and I hesitated, before teleporting behind him and flicking my wrist, a dagger of my own materialising in my hand.
I stepped forward, pressing the dagger to his throat, but a piercing pain shot through my head the moment my hand brushed against his neck. I stumbled back a few steps, squeezing my eyes shut. When I opened them again, I was greeted by a world of colour. A world I had never seen before.

"No..." I whispered, realisation hitting me like a punch to my chest. Loki turned to face me, his green eyes wide with horror and amazement. I didn't even know what the colour green looked like until that moment. It was beautiful. Blood trickled down the side of his neck, standing out against his milky skin, where I had caught him with the blade.

"What have you done to me?!" He demanded to know and I stepped back as Loki stepped forward. I could feel myself shaking and I heard my dagger hit the floor before I realised that it had slipped out of my hand.

"This can't happen." The world around me spin, a blur of colour and I felt like I couldn't breathe. My chest was tight and my body ached and I just wanted it to stop. I faintly heard the ding of the elevator and I watched as the Trickster stepped towards me, but before I knew it, I hit the floor.

"Y/N! You're awake!" An enthusiastic, but tired voice asked as I began to open my eyes. Looking to my left, I found Steve sitting there, a relieved smile on his face.
His blue eyes scanned my face, as if he was waiting for me to say something.
I didn't know how I knew what blue looked like, but I did. I somehow knew what all the colours looked like, even the ones I had never seen.
"Y/N?"

"What happened?" I asked, my voice hoarse. My everything hurt and I tried to sit up, but Steve stopped me.

"We're not entirely sure." He admitted.
"Loki broke into the tower and caught you off guard. Bruce said it looks like you had some kind of a panic attack and blacked out, but Loki bailed before we could even get close to either of you." I bit my tongue, knowing I couldn't tell him.
"I was really hoping you could tell me what happened? What he said?"

"I..." I shook my head.
"I don't know. He backed me into a corner, said something about me being the Avengers new pet, but then nothing. My mind is completely blank after that." I lied and Steve frowned, nodding.

"Rest up." He patted my shoulder.
"I'll be back in to check on you in a few hours."

Weeks passed and eventually, everyone seemed to forget about the incident. Sure, Loki had broken in and security had increased, but he didn't actually hurt anyone or take anything, the worst thing that happened was my black out. Well, that and finding out that my soulmate is a murderous psychopath.

"L/N, pay attention." Nat scolded, throwing another punch that I was too slow to dodge.
My training had increased dramatically since Fury announced that I would start on missions next week, which meant the famous Black Widow stopped holding back.

"Jesus, Nat. Don't kill the kid." Clint muttered from the sidelines as she kicked me down. I grimace, a horrible pain erupting in my ribs as I hit the mat. I brought my hand up and touched the injury, a gasp of pain escaping my lips. I definitely had a break or two and it hurt like Hell.
"You okay?" Clint put his hand on my shoulder as I forced myself to stand.

"I think you've had enough." Nat muttered as I limped over to her.

"Let's go again." I muttered and the pair exchanged a look.
The thing was, the more pain I was in, the less I was thinking. And if I wasn't thinking, I wasn't thinking about Loki.

"L/N-" Nat was cut off by JARVIS announcing a mission.
"Get yourself to the med bay." She ordered and I rolled my eyes.
"Do I have to walk you there myself?"

"I'm going." I muttered, teleporting out of the room, except I didn't go where I wanted to.
Rain pounded down against my skin, making me gasp and look around.
My ribs were really beginning to hurt again and I tried to teleport back to the tower, but I didn't go anywhere.
I swore under my breath and tried again, but it was useless.
I began to shiver, my tank top and leggings not really protecting me against the rain and I decided to find shelter. I was in the middle of the street, so I approached the nearest door and knocked.
Logically, I knew asking a stranger for help was a terrible idea, but my head was beginning to spin from the pain and I didn't want to pass out in the street.
The door opened and as soon as it did, my knees buckled and I fell into whoever it was, my eyes closing.
