He's still gone

I heard a loud crash that broke me from my sleeping state. I shot up from my bed before quickly letting my armor like suit shimmer in place on my body. I quickly got out my two sided dagger and made my way towards the sound.

I made my way across the hallway until I got to Stephens door. I quickly threw the door open and was ready to attack, only to see Stephen on the floor with a bottle of Jack Daniels in his hand. "Oh, Stephen." I breathed out before making my suit disappear again and let my hoodie and sweats take its place.

I kneeled down in front of him before carefully taking away the bottle. "Get away." He told me, his voice weak. "Love... he's still gone when you're done with the bottle." I told him as I made the bottle disappear. "I just- it's my fault." He told me as tears trailed down his already wet cheeks. His nose, cheeks and ears were nearly glowing with crimson.

"It's not. It was the only way, and you know it. He knew what he did when he snapped." I told him as I grabbed his hand. "Please don't..." he told me. I quickly let go of him again before sitting down besides him.

Two silent minutes had passed before Stephen decided to break the silence. "Why are you still here?" He asked me. I looked up at him worried. Didn't he want me in the sanctum anymore? "I mean... I treat you so badly, you have every right to leave... you have every right-" his voice broke before he could continue any further.

"Because you matter. Because I know what happened wasn't your fault." I answered shortly. "Then why does it feel like it?" He asked me as he finally looked at me. His bloodshot eyes begging for answers. "Because life's unfair." I told him truthfully.

More silent minutes went by. It wasn't an awkward nor uncomfortable silence, it was just... calming. "I'm sorry for pushing you away." He whispered. "It's okay." I answered. I felt his hand carefully fall upon my thigh before softly grabbing my own hand. "Can you forgive me?" He asked.

"You've always been forgiven." I answered him. He looked deeply into my eyes, begging for reassurance. "I've never, ever, believed you were to blame." I told him as I shifted my body to look at him better. It was silent for a minute before I spoke again, "I'll forever be on your side..." I told him truthfully.

He just looked at me hesitantly. "224." I ended my sentence. A small smile made it's way onto his lips. "You remembered?" He questioned. I cracked a smile too as I nodded. "I'm not one to forget." I told him.

A/n: I DON'T KNOW WHAT TO WRITE... well I do but I don't know how to word it correctly. So I've literally been deleting paragraph after paragraph that I've written because they weren't good enough. And also, I HAVE SUMMER VACATION NOW!!! Which means I'll be going to, what you'd call, a boarding school but the danish version after summer break.
