A warm wind filled the car through her open window, lifting the hair from her shoulders, and she squint at the bright afternoon. The sun is glowing in the sky.

A brand new day. They say.

The breeze caressed her skin in gentle manner.

After over a week in the hospital, the majority of her time spent unconscious, it was nice to finally get some fresh air, to breathe in oxygen that doesn't smell like it's been sterilized beforehand. Being a patient was so different from being a doctor.

Jay didn't waste the chance to offer driving her car to her apartment,  she cast a nervous glance to her left, at Jay. Jungwon offered her to stay with them at their penthouses until she'd be feeling well to walk alone. But she refused, witch made him insist at least that she had to bring someone to stay with her for her safety. Anything can happen.

There was a pressing anxiety in her chest at the thought of going home, wherever that might be. She was hoping once they arrive, something there will be the trigger to filling in the gaps in her memory.

Her appartement is empty when they get there.

Jay unlock the door, stepping inside and kickingboff his shoes, and Jay follows behind her, doing the same.

Wordlessly, she drifts up toward her bedroom with the help of Jay carrying her, paying no mind. Once she reaches her bedroom door, she pushed her door open, promptly wanting to collapse onto the bed and closing her eyes, wanting to disappear.

Jay made her sit on her bed," here you are," he voiced smiling at her. Standing up, his sight was welcomed by a photo hanged beside her bed. There was women with back hair smiling, her dimples were showing. She was happy.

Tat noticed where he was looking, she didn't want him to judge her. Not that she thought he was going to, she mean, she trust him, right?

She trusts Jay.

"She looks really happy.” He whispered, looking her in the eye.

“She is.”she immediately said, as her face well. “Or, she was ”

Jay smiled faintly, eyes following her eyes while she looked down at her hands.  "There's a reason why you're here today.” Jay suddenly said, making her turn to him with a raised eyebrow.

“What do you mean?” she frowned.

He smiled, staring at the cracked white wall on the right. “There's a reason why you aren't dead Tat. There's a reason why you were chosen to stay here."

She  almost wanted to cry.

Her heart was falling to the pit of her stomach, as a lump rose in her throat.

“Don't say things like that, Jay." Her voice cracked.

the salty tear that slid down her cheek. Slowly, Jay's hand reached out to brush the tear away from her cheek. What must've surprised her the most was when Jay didn't take his hand away.

In fact, his hand cupped her right cheek, rubbing circles on her temple with his thumb. “Say things like what?” he repeated. “The truth?”

Her hands trembled by her side, as her cheek felt warm against Jay's palm. “Your mom wouldn't want to see you sad, Tat." He soothed, voice sounding so gentle and soft. “They left you here for a reason. Don't disappoint her.”

Silence.

Jay's lips suddenly landed against her cheek, as her eyes went wide.

Her heart began to race, as Jay's soft, cool lips came in contact with her red, flushing hot cheeks. She knows it was only a kiss on the cheek, but it was the most intimate thing that's ever happened to her.

She hated to admit it, but it felt so right. When he pulled his lips away, she couldn't help but notice how his ears had a hint of pink to them. She bit back a small smile, as he stared down at her bed shyly.

That wasn't even a proper kiss, not that it was their first.

The mattress shifts next to her with Jay's
weight, and it's both a comfort, and a source of sorrow. Part of her wishes he had just dropped her off and gone to his own house, so that she could be alone. But it's for her own good.

Silence fills the room, though it's not uncomfortable, and she takes her time in opening her eyes, gathering a handful of her blanket in her palm.

She stare up at the slanted ceiling, thinking about how strange it is that some things in life stay constant and unchanging, even when everything else has gone to shit.

Rolling over, she turns to face Jay. He leans against the headrest of her bed, a  contemplative expression on his face, and she begin to think about how much her life changed after meeting him.

"Should I leave now?" he asks without emotion, staring at the floor.

Suddenly she was not feeling safe thinking that she will be alone, but didn't jungwon told him that he should stay with her? What now?

She started panicking.

A wave of panic bubbles up in her chest all of
the sudden, and it hits her  that this is real, and his is happening. He's going to walk out of that door, and she'll never going to see him again, all because that's what she requested.

"Wait" she blurts, hating how desperate the word sounds coming out of her mouth. His eyesflicker to hers. "Stay," she whispers. "Just a little bit longer"

"Okay," he agrees.

Against her better judgment, and in spite of everything she've  just said, she reach out, winding her arms around his shoulders one last time.

It takes him a moment to process the gesture, but even tually he wraps an arm around her waist.

Somehow, she end up laying down with her head on his chest, his fingers playing with her hair, and impossibly, she falls into a dreamless sleep. It was not like the movie scenes when she will wake up in his arms, laying with him in his warm hold.

But this time, when she wakes up, he's gone.

...TBC... take care!
