Maybe once upon a time they were in love but maybe greed got in the way and they started to only care for money.
He knew he shouldn't complain though because that meant he gets to live in a house like this, but was that all worth it if you never got to see your family?
"Seriously, what's up?" His father questions him but without the mocking tone from before. Cole huffs and rolls his eyes at his dad. "It's not like you actually care" he mutters and stares forward at the tv but he can hear his dad shuffle around. Fidgeting on the spot, probably because he knew Cole was right. He didn't actually care.
"Is it that boy?" Cole shakes his head slightly, not wanting to converse with him. If he wanted to know he should stay home and find out, but he and his mum are constantly away on 'trips', or probably just breaks from him.
"If it is you shouldn't let that get to you" his dad scratches his head as he stubs out the cig in a nearby ashtray. He was so bad at comforting people, but how else do you comfort someone you barely know. Cole almost wants to laugh at him for even trying.
"When he came round that time I could see how much he liked you" he coughs awkwardly, clearing his throat and giving himself time to think of what to say next. "He had this sparkle in his eyes whenever he looked at you, I think he really likes you Cole."
Cole can feel his whole face burn, turning redder and redder. Its weird hearing your parent let alone your dad talk about this stuff with you, he didn't even know if his dad was okay with it yet but clearly he isn't against it. Love is love after all.
Not that Cole loves him or anything. He doesn't think he does anyway.
"Whatever the fuck you did, buy him a flower. No, buy him the biggest bouquet you can find and apologise. Don't give him that half hearted sorry I've seen you do, actually mean it for once." Cole stopped as his eyes lingered on the TV, he didn't know what his dad meant.
He hasn't said sorry that many times before because he didn't need to, he never did anything wrong. But now come to think of it, as his dad reminded him he never meant any of his apologies in the past. In other 'relationships' he's had- which were basically just hook ups, he would always ruin it and leave without a word.
He would get what he want and leave.
He turns his head around and looks up to his dad, "I've seen how you act with other girls, and probably boys too but you've never actually stuck around for the relationship part. You always left before it got too serious" he furrows his brows, hearing that back he realises what a douce he actually is.
He's a player.
"Dont lose this one kid, you're already in too deep" his dad pats his shoulder then turns around and fleas up the stairs. Gone again.
Cole turns back with a frown, seeing himself differently now. Seeing how with all his past relationships he only stuck around for sex and how he hurt so many boys and girls in the past.
He wouldn't do that again, not with Peyton. He would never hurt Peyton again.
The next day is his first day back at college, he knew that Peyton and Milo were at college the day before. He knew both of their schedules which freaked him out a little bit, he must have memorised Peyton's before his own.
He hasn't seen them both since before Christmas, he misses them. Even the annoying one with the weird rat which surprised him. He has so many other friends and yet he hadn't thought about them once over the break.
He even got the two Christmas presents which he still has and he never got anyone besides his parents gifts before. He swears Peyton has changed him and clearly for the better, he never realised how much of a dick he was. Was, because he's not going to be like that again.
