chapter twenty four

third person;

as daniel had reassured her many times that morning, leading up to lunch time angel only heard one snarky comment that luna, one of tamia's friends, had said as they walked past each other in the hallway but nothing from everyone else.

walking from her fourth period art class to the library, she kept her head slightly down while walking through the hallways and avoiding running into anyone as she always would.

"hey, angel is it?" a junior stopped her by softly grabbing ahold of her arm and then letting go when she looked up at him.

"um yeah.." she nodded, looking between him and his friend, noticing one of them from one of her classes.

"did you actually hook up with daniel?" he questioned.

"um.. yeah, and so what if i did?" she shrugged, making eye contact with the boy.

"oh- uh- nah, that's chill. put tamia in her place as you should," he responded as took a small step back while shifting the weight of his feet. "you're cool, i'll see you around i guess."

"kay," angel gave him and his friend a small nod before turning back around to continue walking to the library.

she had a small smile on her lips as she walked past everyone, this time with her head up more and not apologising if she accidentally bumped into someone — although usually it was the other person's fault.

she didn't know where this sudden burt of new-found confidence came from but she liked it. she felt somewhat powerful from making one of her classmates who originally came up to her with full confidence end up stuttering and moving from her.

"hey, taylor," angel gave the girl a smile as she took a seat across from her. "how are you?"

"i'm good," taylor returned her a smile. "and how are you? zach had told me about what was posted and why you weren't here yesterday.."

"i'm good. i had time to think about it and i haven't heard any one talk about it really so i'm feeling a lot better compared to how i was this morning."

"did it actually happen or..?" she leaned forward, a subtly smile on her face and her own hands intertwined together as were place on the table.

"no," she softly shook her head while a small laugh escaped her mouth, "but i did just tell some guy that it did and he did not expect that answer."

"wait so nothing happened? you two can back all happy for no reason at all?" taylor furrowed while left out a fake, playful gasp, "geez daniel do better, even zach made a move on me that night."

"we weren't up there for long.. we just talked a little and um he asked to kiss me so we sorta kissed," she spat words out of her mouth as she mumbled and jumbled half of them together, making it hard for the other girl to understand. "now spill!"

"no, go back," she held her finger up at the girl, shaking her head, "you two what now?"

"he kissed me okay," angel responded before covering her mouth with her hand to hide her uncontrollable smile. "and he sorta like sung to me the next day- this is a whole different story i don't know why i telling you this. now tell me what zach done."

"we were talking and all and he kinda asked me out on a date.." she explained while there was also a smile on her face, "so we've been talk everyday and i'm excited."

"aw when is it?"

"this weekend," she responded, receiving a small nod from angel. "but i kinda already have my outfit and everything planned out because like i said i'm excited."

"to think that this wouldn't be happening if you didn't come up and talk to me that day," angel mentioned. "and if i didn't tell him and although you didn't really want me to."

"i'm glad you did," taylor replied, giving the other a reassuring nod. "us both being new students kinda worked out well. i much prefer spending time with you rather than sitting alone in here, feeling like i'm being judged."

"yeah, it's nice hanging out with you," she gave her a smile. "but speaking of hanging out with people.. do you think maybe we should hang out with zach, daniel, and their friends at some point?"

"just try it out see how it goes?" angel added, wanting to explain herself and her reasoning for the comment. "i don't know if i'll like it but i keep telling them i'll hang out at lunch so i should at least try it once."

"yeah, we should," taylor agreed.

"i mean after all you are going on a date with zach.." she teased. "so hanging out at school can warm you up to it- wait ew warm you up sound weird i don't know why i used that term."

"i get what you mean," she let out a small and soft laugh. "tomorrow for hanging out with them?"

"yeah," angel nodded. "lunch time tomorrow."
