The pack made their way back to Beacon Hills and immediately rushed into the animal clinic to explain to Deaton what had happened and hope he knew of a solution. The vet cleared the examination table while the others rushed out into the rain to get Derek. Scott lifted the sleeping boy over his shoulder and raced back inside, carefully placing him on the table.

The vet looked at the teenage version of Derek in shock for a moment. "Wow..."

"'Wow'? 'Wow' as in 'I've seen this before and I know what to do' kind of wow? Because that's what we were kind of hoping for..." Stiles said as Jess ran her hands through her hair.

"I think you might be overestimating my abilities." Deaton stated.

Lydia carefully picked up Derek's hand while the others watched. "He's cold. Really cold." She commented causing Jess to panic and rush over to the boy. The witch put her hand on his head and felt how cold he was.

"Oh my god..." She muttered.

"Do you think this is permanent?" Scott asked Deaton while wrapping an arm around Jess to try to calm her down.

The man pulled out his flashlight and tried to look into Derek's eyes before responding. "I'm not sure a medical diagnosis is even adequate. This is well beyond my experience."

"So what do we do with him?" Stiles questioned.

"Until he wakes up, probably not much. It might be best to leave him here with me. He'll be safe." The vet answered.

"You mean from Kate?" Jess queried as she walked over to Deaton's side and took Derek's hand, avoiding eye contact with everyone.

"If she's alive and she is what you say she is, she won't be able to walk past that gate."

"Why would she want to do this to him?" Lydia asked.

"Knowing Kate, it's probably for a reason that won't be good for anyone but her." Deaton continued to answer.

"And bad for everyone else." Stiles pointed out, earning him a glare from everyone except Jess who still wouldn't look away from the teenage version of her husband.

"You guys should probably go home. He doesn't look to be in any danger... So, maybe the rest of you should get some sleep? It is a school night, and you all need to start taking care of your own lives again." Deaton responded.

"Someone should stay here with you." Scott stated.

"If you think I'm going anywhere, you're insane." Jess commented as Deaton put a hand on her shoulder sympathetically.

"I'll stay too. My grades are fine, despite missing a few classes." Lydia offered.

"Ah I'm so not okay with this." Stiles stated.

Lydia rolled her head towards the boy and glared at him slightly. "Guys, go." She then turned to Scott who was still looking at Derek.

The alpha nodded his head and faced Lydia. "Text us if anything happens."

"Nope. Still not okay with this. Not going anywhere." Stiles protested. Scott grabbed his best friend's arm and started to drag him out of the room and towards the car. "Alright, just because you're stronger."

"Jess, you should probably go home too. When was the last time you slept or even ate something?" The banshee asked as Deaton walked into his office.

"I'm not going anywhere." The girl responded adamantly. "I'm his mate even though I can't even feel him right now but I'm also his wife. I'm not going anywhere."

Lydia sighed at her best friend and walked into the waiting room, grabbed a chair and carried it back into the examination room before placing it right next to where Jess was standing. "At least get some sleep. I'll go and get you some food."
