Derek had been dodging talking to Jess for the last 24 hours and she was getting sick of it. He wouldn't even sleep in their bed but wouldn't go to one upstairs in case of an attack so he slept on the couch.

The witch woke up in the middle of the night and decided that she wanted to investigate. He had been acting weird whenever she tried to touch his stomach so she crept over to the couch, sat down on the coffee table and started raising his white wifebeater slowly.

She had just spotted the mark on his stomach from a bullet that must've hit him at the hospital when his hands grabbed her wrists causing her to jump.

"Jesus, Hale!" She shouted.

"What are you doing?" Derek asked.

"Getting answers for myself since you clearly don't wanna talk to me." Jess replied, leaning back on the coffee table. "You're not healing, Der. This is the first time, right? I mean Brett's claws healed a few minutes later-"

"Jess, stop. Some wounds take longer." He stated.

"And some leave scars. But not for people like you." Said the witch.

"Maybe I'm just tired." He countered, rolling over to face away from his wife.

"Show me your eyes, Hale." Jess ordered.

"You just saw them." He replied, not moving.

"Your real eyes." She responded. Derek rolled over and tried flashing his eyes but couldn't. "So it's officially everything?" He nodded so she took a deep breath and shut her eyes before moving her hands to hover over his wound.

"You didn't need to do that." The wolf stated. "But thank you."

"You're my husband and my mate-" She started to say before getting interrupted.

"Possibly not your mate anymore. We don't know what's happened with that, Jess."

"I don't care, you're the love of my life, I'm not letting you die or go unhealed when I can easily take care of that." The witch said. "How's your strength?"

"I can still win a fight, Beautiful." Derek replied, sitting up and pulling her into his lap.

"Prove it. Arm wrestle me." She challenged, standing up and walking over to stand in front of the window at the big table. He rolled his eyes and followed her over, putting his hand in hers.

She jabbed his stomach with the hand she wasn't wrestling with before slamming his hand down on the table. "I win." Jess stated, grinning.

"You cheated! That's not fair!" Derek grumbled causing his wife to grin even more.

"I won. When you're human and facing off against the supernatural, you need to bend the rules a bit. We're gonna teach you to bend, Hale." The witch said with a wink. "First you need to know about guns. Grab my bag for me?" She requested.

Derek nodded and went to walk away but Jess kicked him in the back, knocking him down. "Okay, that needs to stop." He commanded.

"I have to teach you as much as possible, as quickly as possible. You're gonna be getting your ass kicked tonight, Hale, deal with it." Jess responded with a smirk.

He rolled his eyes and walked backwards towards her bag, picked it up and then set it on the table. She opened it up and started pulling out a gun. "This is a Sig Sauer P226 9mm."

"I don't like guns." He stated simply.

"That's because you've never learnt to use one." She countered.

"Or because I've been shot. Repeatedly." Opposed Derek.

"You'll like this one, trust me. The legal clip size in California is ten. You always want to remember how many shots you fire. Running out of bullets can get you killed. It also makes you look stupid. But, using a gun isn't just about learning how to point and shoot..." Jess explained as she removed the bullets from the gun.
