What's so great about them ? Why do people want it so badly . The money I understand . The fleets , that I completely do not understand . Replied Alex
What do you know about the fleets ? Do you even know why we have the fleets . Asks Sergey , almost losing his patience . Before Alex was about to answer . Sergey shuts his laptop and turns his full attention to Alex
No Sir , I do not have that much knowledge in the area of fleets . I just know that they are used to mine resources in the nearby planets . Replied Alex
That is precisely what they do . But do you know why they do that ?
Alex did not have an answer because he really did not understand the question

Why are you here ? Alex asks him
Money . Replied Sergey in a very simplistic manner

Alex does not utter a word . He is just shocked with all the information he had received .
Sergey continues . When I was 10 years old I lost both my parents to a war . And nothing like the ones you one fought with . With guns and tanks and planes . It was a horrible war . The whole world was punished so that a few could gain .
Rightly so , replied Alex . Is it not what is happening here
Not at all , we gave you shelter when you had none . We only take in the people who are desperate . Here in the districts . It's your choice

The war we had , and we had a couple of them . Not by choice . We were are forced into something . And it took away our shelter , our homes , our food , my parents

And when the war was over . I was put in the streets . I roamed in the streets , trying to survive and this went for a couple of years .

And then one fine day , a gentleman whose name I cannot remember. He stopped by randomly against the liquor corner I was trying to get rid of the cold
And then this gentlemen gave me this card . There was a job opening at a nuclear reactor  , said Sergey
A nuclear reactor ? What is that asked Alex
It's an energy converter . Replied Sergey
Alex nodded
So yes , I took this job at the nuclear reactor . I got it fairly easy . Because no one else wanted it . You could die of radiation . Before Alex could ask a doubt
It a a form of poison said Sergey raising his eyebrows
And then I had this job , for years . Where I had to get rid of the nuclear waste . I worked hard , really hard and I climbed up the ladder . As decades passed I was put in charge of Uranium . Tracking and purchasing , sometimes hunting for it . Said Sergey
Uranium is a mineral , that is very rare and it's main component of a nuclear reactor .
Then . Said Sergey as the suspense began to grip Alex
Then , what happened . Asked Alex hurriedly
Then what happened was . There was no uranium left for us . And then began our search all around the galaxy and the galaxies far away . For over a decade we found nothing .
And then we finally we got lucky , we landed here in your planet . And there was uranium all around . Everywhere
We have Uranium , asked Alex
Lots , lots and lots of it . Replied Sergey
Does the planets neighbouring have uranium as well , asked Alex inquisitively
No , unfortunately not . Replied Sergey
Then why are the fleets going up in rockets to other neighbouring planets to mine the minerals . Asked Alex
I will tell you this Alex , because you have a very trusting face . There is nothing up there . In those planets . It's all a cover up . While everyone is looking up at the skies , we are digging underground and taking all the uranium .
Alex was astounded , to what he was hearing .
Alex , his eyes grew large . And the great floods of District 8 . ? Asked Alex
That was due to Uranium , it blew up and we had to Copious amount of water . We opened the nearby dam so that the people would think it was a disaster of nature and not by us . The humans
That is evil . Replied Alex whose personal life was intertwined with the great floods . The misery and pain he saw in the eyes of the people dislodged by the floods loomed large in his memory . And to think this was all caused for some unknown mineral that the people of Andora had no use for . That angered him even more
That is money , replied Sergey
Alex retreated to deep silence
