Long silver hair glistens in the moonlight, reflecting the stars of the clear sky above. On horseback I ride quickly through the dense forest, my heartbeat pounds in my ears, thumping melodically to the sound of hooves on the cold, sleepy earth. The sounds crescendo into a terrifying song as the cold air slithers through the airy layers of my clothes and chills me to the bone.

"Minerva!" I scream into the soundless oblivion. No answer. Sweat forms on my brow despite the freezing temperatures around me. A shrill scream cuts through the silence like a newly sharpened blade. I pull hard on the reigns of my horse and speed off in the direction of the sound.

The wind seems to whisper to me to turn back but I ignore it. The frightened squeals of my longest friend nip at my ears and I continue on. My stomach churns and I ignore the feeling bubbling up inside me.

What if they already have her?
