6 weeks later

I woke up the next morning and Derek held me

"Mmm you're finally awake" he whispered running his hands up my stomach

"Mmhm" I moaned softly

A kid ran into the room.

"Mommy mommy" Blake yelled

"Yes sweetie" I sighed sitting up

I realized that I was naked and covered my chest with the blanket.

"It's bailey. He won't wake up" she cried

"Blake go outside" Derek said

She walked outside of the room. Derek and I quickly got dressed. We ran to baileys room. Derek checked his pulse. He started CPR.

"Call 911" he said in between breaths.

I quickly called 911. They sent an ambulance out. I ran out of the room and went to Bella's room

"What's with all the noise" she asked waking up

I wiped my tears

"I need you to watch the kids. Can you do that" I asked

"Yeah why" she asked

"It's bailey. We have to take him to the hospital. He's not breathing" I said

"Oh my god" she said

"I know" I said hugging her

She cried into my chest

"Be strong for me baby" I whispered kissing her head

The paramedics came into the house.

"Okay I'll send Amelia to come by later" I said

I left the room and went with the paramedics. Derek and I got into the back. They kept trying to do CPR.

"My baby boy" I cried

We arrived at the hospital and they took Bailey into a trauma room. They finally got him back and took him to the OR.

Derek's POV

Meredith was freaking out. I couldn't help her and she had a right to be upset. Our baby was in a room surrounded by a bunch of scary people. I want to be there with him. We should be there with him by his side holding his hand. She was pacing around the waiting room. I couldn't watch this any longer. I got up and grabbed her hand.

"Come on" I said

I brought her to an on call room.

"Go crazy. Shout. Yell. Do anything you want. Hit the mattresses, wall, anything. Get angry" I said

She kept crying. I put my hands onto her cheeks and kissed her lips. I let go. She started screaming and pushed me into the door with her hands. She hit everything and got so mad. She finally stopped and calmed her breathing down. I hugged her tightly and she cried into my chest.

"Do you need someone" I asked

"You" she whispered

I held her and brought her over to the bed. I laid her down and I sat at the edge. I put my hand onto her stomach and she held my hand.

"Oooo" she winced

"Do you want to get checked out" I asked

Meredith's POV

"That would be- yeah oooo let's go" I said getting up

He grabbed my hand and helped me walk. We went to Addison. She brought us into a room. I laid down onto the patient bed

"What happened" she asked

"Bailey wouldn't wake up this morning and he's in the OR. I am cramping a lot" I said scared

"Okay we are going to find the problem" she said

She turned the ultrasound machine on and squirted gel into my stomach. She moved the wand across it.

"Okay so you have a minor tear but it will heal on its own. You don't have to worry and- oooo" she smiled

"What. What is it" I said

"Do you want to know the baby's gender" she asked

"Go ahead" I said

"It's a healthy beautiful baby girl" she smiled

"Damn" Derek whispered

I looked at him

"Not because of a little princess" he whispered kissing my forehead

"I didn't pick you out to be one of those guys" Addison said showing us the ultrasound machine

Our baby's so precious. I love her so much already.

"Me neither" I smiled to Derek

I know what he meant but I wanted to mess with him. Addy did too

"Stop she's so beautiful. Hopefully she has those beautiful bright green eyes" Derek laughed

Addy wiped the gel off and turned the machine off

"I really hope that Bailey is okay" she said leaving the room

I got up and pulled my shirt down. I sat here for a moment

"We can stay in here if you want" he said

"I want my son" I said

Charlotte walked into the room.

"Hi guys. I just heard what happened" she said

"I'm so sorry guys Cooper and I would do anything for you and your kids" she said

"Shit the kids" I said

"Could you take the kids for a while" I asked

"Yes I can" she said leaving the room

She has a key to our place

"So we need to do something just in case. We need to talk about it" he said

"I can't think of that right now" I said

He walked in front of me and hugged me. I held onto him. Addison walked in with a doctor

"Meredith" Addison said tearing up

"Your son um- um really sorry. He had too much blood go into his brain and is permanently brain dead" the doctor said

My heart gave out. I fell to my knees and couldn't stop crying. Derek held me and everyone left. I cried into him

2 hours later

I finally got the courage to go into see my baby boy. He had tubes in his mouth and I sat beside him. I held his hand.

"Hi sweet boy I know you're in there someone. Mommy and daddy both love you. Please make it out" I cried

Derek rubbed my back and talked to bailey. The doctor came in.

"Let me see the file" Derek said

He angrily took the file from the doctor and looked at it.

"It's bad" she said

He showed me it. There was only a 2% chance that he would be okay

"2 percent" I said

"We should wait 30 more days and if nothing changes then we'll look at options" he said

He filled out paperwork and the doctor left.

"Do you want to stay here all night or with the kids" he asked

"With him" I said kissing the top of his hand

"He had a heart defect. It was hard to diagnose" he said

"I know" I cried
